Hypermotard or Speed Triple

Congrats! :thumbup

I wish the seat was a little more flat thought so you could change positions a little more than being locked all the way forward.

This is the sole complaint I have with my Hyper. I have the journey low seat now but today I ordered an SP seat. If I find I don't like it then I'm going to take it to a local guy to get re-worked with new foam and a new shape so I can slide back an inch or 2 while I'm in motion and slide forward when I stop so I can still get a foot down.

Since I bought my KTM, I don't think I'll go back to the lower, shorter travel suspension. And I do dig those Brembo Radial mount brakes, as was said, one finger, you can feel it right at the edge of traction. And I don't even think twice about nasty, bumpy roads, gravel or shitty pavement, it doesn't matter, the suspension is composed, predictable, and confidence inspiring.

Yay long travel.

Most excellent...

Now quick, get an oil cooler guard. Oh, and be careful with the instrument cluster - it can scratch relatively easily. Head over to Hyperstrada.com for lots of model specific info.

Just got back from a ride and the high beam low beam seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes the blue light on the dash would light up and I couldn't find a switch to go back to low beam. I assume the blue light means high beam. Then without doing anything I was aware of the blue light would go off again.

What I want most for the bike is a gps and a tail bag of some sort for storage. High performance parts are further down the road depending on what the warranty allows.

Nice!!! Congratulations on the new bike! You want the "Race seat" for the Hyper.
The cost is why I haven't got one on mine...$353.00:( http://www.ducatiusa.com/accessorie...15&idCategory=2&nameOrder=desc&sortOrder=rate

Yep, I got the race seat. Bit the bullet and paid for it - it completely transformed the bike.

Strange. The switch goes up and down to toggle the high/low, and in and out to flash the high beam. Could be a broken spring or loose connection. Never heard of that one before.

When I put a fuel module on mine, Ducati voided the warranty. Luckily there were only 2 weeks left, but keep that in mind.

Nice bike ! :Thumbup
I nearly got the Hypermotard however I chose the Dorosduro... Just a little cheaper.
The suspension I was able to dial in to make it more comfortable to ride on long hauls with out sacrificing handling.
Power... lets just say the bike will easily wheelie in 3 gears just by rolling on the throttle.

You may be hitting the control lever accidentally with your clutch hand, I do it on mine all the time, I glance down and there it is the blue light again.

I think you may be bumping it by accident. This is what I was doing, took me a while to figure it out. I have a Hyperstrada and compared to a Speed Triple, no contest for riding I do. If going Triumph I'd go STREET Triple not Speed.

Sure the Speed is superbike fast compared to HyperMotard but you can't really use all that Triple power on most of our Bay Area roads.

On tight twisty roads the TOP HEAVY Speed Triple is ponderous on switch backs and you can't get on the power early like you can on the Ducati.

Torque is king on such roads. If you can keep the Triumph on the boil, fine, but watch out the rear end doesn't come around on you! Once power kicks in it's sort of light switch compared to predictable Ducati.

No, Ducati is not fast like the Speed Triple, but more fun, more controllable with fewer "scary" moments when riding at a good pace. On steep downhills, coming in HOT to sharp corners the Triumph (to me) feels HEAVY. Ducati is featherweight by my seat of the pants.

If the engine keeps running ... you'll be good. (not all do) As far as long term reliability ... Triumph by a country mile. Ducati? Bring money and breakdown insurance, long extended warranty.

Don't feel bad. It took me several rides and a frustrating look thru the manual before i realized that too :laughing

I didn't realize that not only does the switch go in and out but also up and down.
Other Italian bikes also work like that. You just have to sit on one with the key on and move the switch in all directions for a minute or two to figure it out. I actually like how they work, but have never actually owned a bike with one of those switches. One of these days...

Congrats! :thumbup

Today I experimented with sliding even more forward and that actually provided some relief from sitting in just one position for a while.

Gonna have to read the manual for the miscellaneous clock and ignition pin number and stuff.

Today a saw a few drops of oil on the ground from a hose hanging underside. Is that a welcoming sign of owning an Italian bike? I ain't gonna stress it as long as the warranty is good.
