Holy Crap!!! I'm lucky to be alive. I was driving on Hwy 85 (SB) near the De Anza exit, at 3;40pm today when I started coughing non-stop. See, I've had the flu and I'm just getting over it and I've been coughing like crazy!!!

Well, after hacking for 35 seconds everything got real 'FUZZY' and dark grey and I could not see for almost 10 seconds!!!!!:wtf

I tried not to freak, but I slowed down from 65 to about 50 mph (I was in the middle lane) and I hit my right signal. I felt and heard my cars tires hitting the bot-dots for the slow lane, so I moved slightly to the left. Meanwhile, the guy in the truck on my right leaned on his horn to tell me that I was F'n up (I'm sorry Sir for scaring the crap outta you).

Well, after my vision cleared up, I moved over to the right lane and cruised 'cautiously' to my destination. If I was not running late, I would have pulled off the freeway a

Fuck dude, get some Halls or something! I've never heard of anyone blacking out for coughing, glad you're alright!

Thats one of my fears. blacking out while doing something that requires attention. I once did it in a shower, next thing I know I was lying down in the tub with a bloody nose. It hurt to even get up!

Wow thats some scary stuff! Glad you're ok! Yes, pack water and cough drops! :thumbup

It happens. I've had it happen, and my dad has too. We also suffer from thin capillaries in our wind pipes. Too much coughing = blood.

What happens is the muscles in your neck tense up, and restrict blood flow. Much like a sleeper hold.

A clingy dog is usually not clingy when something is wrong with him/her self, in fact, when a dog is hurt you will most likely never know because they hide it thinking it's a sign of weakness. Your pb probably smells something funny coming out of your butt and is scared, trying to tell you to go to the vet.:nerd

go to the doc man, get some rest. you should be driving if your blacking out like that. next time you start coughing like that pull over asap.

That's probably like that light-headed thing people get when they stand up. I get it really bad when I'm sick or after a long bicycle ride. Kind of cool, like a cheap high, when I'm in the living room. Not so cool on a motorcycle. Never happened to me while riding.

I tend to try not to ride when I'm very sick. I get all spacey and dizzy and stupid too.

Good job at not panicking and staying focused.

oh good it's not just me. Sometimes when Ibecome super relaxed and get out of my bed kinda quick I get super dizzy/ light headed for about 30 seconds. I thought something was wrong with me. It doesn't happen all the time though.

last time i got that sick, i had my wife and father-in-law come get me and take me and the truck home

scary shizz

you holding out on the sticky icky bra?
cause that hella give you tha head rush.

get yourself checked out by a doc just to make sure you ain't got high BP.
good luck, I'm pullin' for you, were all in this together.

What caused all that coughing ? What'ja just hear Climber is really a Republican :laughing

We get something similar after severe coughing. No black outs tho. I shake head like trying to get water out of hair to clear it up quickly.

damn lefty, gotta take that choker off sooner when you whacking the salami, bro!!! :teeth :laughing

j/k

might want to make sure it isn't more than just the cough causing that. maybe a physical is in order. just saying.

I have had an incident in the past, don't remember what but it wasn't violent, that caused my eyes to go completely out of focus. I couldn't see anything for atleast 30 seconds. Just fuzz.

On a TMI note, I had it happen before with a high school girlfriend. Right before the moment, she stopped on purpose. I was pissed but my eyes went out of focus and wouldn't stop shaking in my skull for close to a minute. VERY weird situation.

As for your near blacking out, it was lack of oxygen getting to brain/body from the violent coughing. You weren't getting the oxygen you needed. Not only was your body physically stressed from the coughing requiring you to need more oxygen, your lungs were refusing to work to allow oxygen into your system.

Thanks for the support and advice. I feel better today (I have the flu for a week) but I'm still coughing occassionally.

I think your dog is loving on you extra special because he can sense it is YOUR time to go, and not his.

:twofinger

Be careful with that...aren't doctors required by law to report stuff like that to the DMV? You may go in there and mention it and the next thing you know your license is permanently revoked.
