I HATE Apple!

What did you record it with? Your iphone/ipod, or what?) I don't see what the Play issue is. Why would it think you're a "thief" when it's your recording, there are no rights/restrictions. It's just a file.

I mean I can see wanting to add it to his library for him cuz he's only 9, but again, why not do that with a thumb drive instead of your iPod.

The notion of synching everything is the flaw in their thinking. I think that THEY think its such a great idea, that its not even about making money. They think its cool. But the first thing I do is turn all the synch shit off when it comes to tunes.

Yup, I find it very annoying that I can't just drag and drop songs from different computers, iTunes requires you to sync the entire library. The funny part is the people that do steal their music are likely clever enough to find work-arounds, while the honest people that actually pay iTunes for music are the ones stuck with the inconvenience.

For those looking for a work-around, check out Copytrans, it's free and easy to use:

The amount of upgrading versions of iTunes is most maddening as well. I sure hope they have slowed down. For a while, everytime I log onto it (beyond just listening to my iPod standalone) they have offered yet another update. Crikey.

Yup, and I hate the new iTunes. I'm still using iTunes 10.3, but will likely have to upgrade if I want to get IOS7. :mad

...Jesus fucking Christ, I just wanted to move a song I created onto my son's ipod...

One solution is to not sync the entire library but only specific playlists. If you want all the stuff on the PC on the iPod you just make another playlist containing all the songs...

So you create a playlist with only that song on the PC and have that playlist checked when you sync w/ your son's iPod.

This assumes that one pc (that contains both user files) serves both the iPods. If your son has his songs on his PC, then I am not sure - I think it may say "this iPod is already synced with another PC... (and so you are trying to steal)!" :)

You know, there's an option to bitching about Apple's monoculture: don't fucking buy it, don't fucking use it. :twofinger

It is like the government. Whether you like it or not it is there, and when it is there and you have a lot to not like about it, the option left with is to bitch about it!

Why does it have to suck you into getting iTunes installed for every damn thing?

I have regularly been getting iTunes receipt this, that, this, that... and I know that my wife does purchase apps for the kids... But now it seems sooo much that it makes me think my account may have been jeopardized...

Anyway, I wanted to look at all the purchase history on the web and it seems to go around in circles asking to have iTunes on my PC.

Evil. Evil. Evil.

Of course you hate them. All of the best people do.

Sorry, terrible analogy. There are options to the Apple monoculture and iTool downloads; one need not ever interact with Apple products at all.

The same cannot be said of the government, who rule with the threat of violence. Much as I like to diss Apple and Apple fanbois, none of them have threatened me because I refuse to take a bite out of the apple. :twofinger

Ok, what I meant by "it is there" is due to its wide compatibility and numerous devices etc, it ends up in some form or other in your life.

For example I have iPod + car stereo which I love, and hence iTunes enters the picture.
There is probably no better option than a iPad / learning / games for the kid.

You get the point.

So may be instead of calling it the government, call it the wife :)

Actually there are a lot better options for learning for the kid. The learning stuff in the App center is mostly pretty weak. Different thread though.

As for music, well it doesn't matter. I have managed to avoid Apple entirely.

im pretty sure that iTunes Sync is the only Apple iProcess that i loathe and think should die a terrible software death. i guess its nice to have 1 button that transfers EVERYTHING for about 5% of the Apple population. but not having the option to NOT transfer everything through that button is ridiculous and tiresome for everyone else.

but whatever, iTunes 11.1 is better than the prev versions, even in this regard, and syncing got a little less painful when app and photos magically started downloading themselves between all my devices. ill live.

Your wife purchased apps for the kids, and later the iTunes purchase receipts arrive in your email Inbox, right? The receipts usually arrive within one day.

So basically your complaint boils down to this: Your family is spending too much money purchasing apps? And how is that Apple's fault? :laughing

Regardless, if you need help with Apple stuff, browse Apple Support and sift through the tips and tricks there:

There is no option (at least I did not find) to view the purchase history all in one place on the web (it is reasonable to expect to see that if someone logs in to his/her account online). To do that, you need to have iTunes installed on your PC (which I don't). So it is a scenario of Apple grabbing every opportunity to shove iTunes down your throat.

Somebody at your house must have iTunes installed on at least one of the family's iOS devices, right? "How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?" :teeth

Does this help?

Does that undermine what I said?

Your family is purchasing stuff from your/their Apple account. Use the iTunes software to track the purchases. Or don't track the purchases, it's up to you. :wtf
