I quit smoking today!

cool joebar, how did you do it and how to maintain it? I was a smoker for 3 0 years. what a grim freaking realization.

I been snacking on everything is sight. mini oreos. carrot sticks. pound cake. vitamin c and zinc drops. will start on the nachos and salsa soon.

What's on Monday, where is it at and what time?

"Quiting smoking is easy. I've done it thousands of times" - ???

What is the class Max? I'm looking for a good physical work out these days.

congrats on your so far success on quitting smoking, i hope you can make it all the way, wish the best luck to ya!!!

*walkin away pullin a cig out lightin it up*.....

Congrats. that's great to hear. I gave it up a little over a year ago. It was tough at first but it got easier. I found that running helped. I run all the time now, and I don't think i would ever done it if i didn't stop smoking.

Mind over matter. Turn that bad habit into something physical like aerobics or something.

How about giving up drinking as well? Cold turkey on both ;)

good job. I had a fairly easy time quitting a year ago on new years day mostly because I usually smoked in the car, and it's not easy riding the bike and smoking. :thumbup

Eeeeehhhh.... Quit drinking Guinness?!? NNNOOOO! :teeth

:staRang :Port :staRang :Port :staRang

I have no problem with drinking, CONTRARY to what people think. :p I am more addicted to coffee than alcohol. Quitting coffee will be a tough one! I LOVE COFFEE! I'll just switch to decaf!

dang cyber I told you if you start smoking there will be trouble. :twofinger don't do it mang!!!

opus, class is a level one kickboxing class but you get out what you put in. blend of technique and cardio much more combat oriented than "tae bo" (eww) as it's loosely based on muay thai format. a great gym. there are straight up boxing classes etc. that will push your stamina even more. that's how I started again. gorilla sports!

Good luck Vicki! Good for you too!

I've been an on again/off again smoker. Smoker when I lived in Europe. Non-smoker in California (no smoking in a bar is just plain weird to me).

As an aside, what is it with motorcycles and cigarettes? 95% of the people I know that smoke are riders . . . weird.

Good luck Vicki...if ya feel like smoking...go ride! ;)

Congratulations!!

I quite when I was 21 after smoking 12 years. I'm glad I did - it's been 38 since!!!

All you folks hanging w her, don't let her have any...

You can do it! Plus, you'll smell great instead of smokey!

Good luck Vicky - I really do hope you manage to quit for good

But dont let other people's horror stories of people dying of cancer cos of cigs make it the driving force, same as you dont listen to people when they tell you about who got killed on a motorcycle blah blah - you dont quit riding cos of that - so dont quit smoking cos of the same kind of stories

do it for yourself, for your own reasons, and because the time is right. One word of advice tho - quit the booze at the same time. They are like brother and sister ;)

And try to change your other habits, commute route, time you do things etc. Cigarette smoking is as much a psychological/behavioural addiction as it is a physical addiction

more power to ya :thumbup

and no, I aint quitting smoking :p

Good luck Vicky,

I quit last July and I used Zyban and it really helped. Like you I smoked for about 12 years.

There were a lot of good suggestions given already. Don't drink, go jogging, and ride your motorcycle when you get an urge.
