They are the stupidest things. Currently, there is an early 90's POS Corolla on my block that has been beeping and honking for several minutes. Car alarms are loud, annoying and not very effective. I'm about ready to go hulk smash the hood of the car.

:mad

That is all.

It's always some jalopy that nobody wants to steal too. :laughing

There's a car in my neighborhood that goes off randomly throughout the day. It's annoying as hell.

Non emergency line called. I gave them the plate so now hopefully they can call the owner. The car is a total POS. How annoying!

You have to think of the alarm as soothing background noise and get all zen-like. :p

I was at San Jose State back in the 90's (god, that sounds old...), a bunch of us were sitting outside the dorm having a cigarette (glad I gave up that habit) and there was this car that the alarm kept going off on for absolutely no reason. And for like 5 minutes at a time. During one of the times that it was quite, I jokingly got up, went over to the car, said "I'll give you something to alarm about", climbed up on the bumper, and jumped up and down a few times. Damn thing didn't make a sound. We started laughing and I walked back to the steps and sat down. At that moment, a leaf floated down off a nearby tree, landing on the hood of the car. Alarm starts blaring! We were rolling after that.

They were effective for probably all of a month when they first came out. They certainly got people's attention. But then it became apparent that they would often go off for no reason. Repeatedly. Now when they go off, no one ever thinks "oh shit, someone's breaking into/stealing a car". Instead it's "oh shit, some douche's car alarm is going off again, wish he'd shut it up". I honestly don't understand why they even equip cars with alarms anymore. Totally useless.

honk honk honk :mad honk honk honk :mad honk honk honk :mad honk honk honk :mad

Actually it's the old POS's that are the most likely to get stolen, due to their part-out value. Honduhs especially.

:( My bike's not even that loud, especially compared to a Duc with Termis, and I set off POS car alarms in parking lots.

Really does get pretty annoying.

My Duc with Staintunes sets off a cacophonous chorus of car alarms at work when I'm leaving in the morning. I feel like a douche, but I'll keep using the garage until it starts staying warm over night.

I can understand the car alarms on the POS. If you're driving a POS, you might not have comprehensive coverage, and can't afford a replacement car.

Circa 1994 I'm living is a shitty warehouse in East Oakland where at night I hear a lot of gunshots but never any sirens. Parked outside the front of the place is some shit box 80's Mitsubishi or some crap, and its alarm keeps going off every fifteen minutes like clockwork. Well I'm an ornery drunk back then and decide I'm going to give the car a fuckin reason to have its alarm woop-wooping, so I grab a piece of rebar and head downstairs. As I approach the vehicle with intent to kill an Oakland PD roller comes up on my six and hits me with the spotlight. Fuck. Cop gets out and asks me what I'm doing and I tell him going for an evening stroll in my war zone neighborhood and this here half-inch thick steel bar is my walking stick... just then the alarm on the car goes off and the cop about jumps out of his shoes. He then walks over to his car and takes out a huge crowbar that he uses to literally tear the hood of the offending vehicle open with- and just as deftly he rips the cable from the battery. The car goes quiet. He turns back to me and says I out to go beck inside as this is no neighborhood for a white boy after dark. I oblige.

True story.

I have a mockingbird living in my back yard that thinks he's a car alarm. Sounds like this

was cool at first... but I'm really hoping he finds some tail soon :|

It was insanely windy yesterday in our neighborhood. Car alarms were going off everywhere. I'm just glad the douche with the ugly mustang wasn't parked on my block. He has one of those alarms that changes tones. beepbeepbeep honk honk honk beedoo beedoo beedoo. UGH, so annoying.

I love that cop. :rofl He is my hero!

My truck is locked up. I just hope that the fact it's manual tranny makes it unappealing to thieves. :toothless

I think I've known Valgar too long. A manual transmission was not the first thing that popped in my head when I read this.
