i installed a digital gear indicator (dg8) and made all the wire connections behind the cluster as specified by the manufacturer, weird thing is that the rpm needle is bouncing all the time up to 2500 sometimes without actually accelerating the engine. so i took it to the shop for a throttle body sync but still have the same bouncing. thoughts please?

well first off, remove the dg8 and see if that cures it

if your motor isn't actually climbing up to 2500 rpm and only your tach is, i would guess its electrical

btw throttle body syncs are really for when the bike can't hold an idle and the power delivery is not smooth and is rough

thanks, i had the idle problem bfore installing the dg8 so i knew it was due for a sync.
i really like the dg8 but if is not working the way it should be, guess i'll have to take it off.
does anyone have it installed and got the same issue?

ok...but still from your OP it sounds like the needle on the tach is bouncing

is your engine speed also oscillating?

this is why its a good idea to spend the extra 30~40 for the plug & play wairing harness, thats made for yor specific bike.

it has nothing to do with the gear indicator, he said the tach needle bouncing happened before installing the gear indicator

i would start with the obvious, remove the cluster and clean the electrical connections with some contact cleaner

see if that helps

He said he had a rough idle problem before, not that the needle was bouncing before the gadget was installed.

I would get rid of the gear indicator because it's useless and you don't need it.

no is not, just the needle that wants to reach for outer space.

good job on those reading comprehension skills

translation: fuck that thing!!!

but still, i have a little bit of rough idle, the shop did the throttle body sinc tho.
