Illegal Everything

In Missouri, if you want to open a moving company, you must by law gain permission from other moving companies to do so. How do you think that turned out?

For every stupid law regulating business there was somebody abusing people that necessitated passing the law. Regulation does go too far, but without rules there is abuse.

This.

People on the right are constantly applauding businessmen who find loopholes in the laws that allow their company to profit from those loopholes (i.e. if they're not breaking the law then they're being brilliant).

Now they're getting all bent out of shape when presented with the numerous regulations created to stop that kind of thing?

Come on folks, get real.

That was an interesting, as well as disturbing.

Doesn't anyone else wonder where this country is heading? Does the direction make sense? I think it's disturbing. The pick and choose mentality is baffling. The best line out of that whole show sums it all up, it was the woman talking to the "hookers; she said to the effect, if protecting someone means taking away your freedom, I'm willing to do that. :rolleyes
Why can't people stay out of other people's business?

Christian

I lost all respect for the law long before fox made a tv show about it

Don't need to.

I know there is numerous laws out there.

But, a hand shake used to be sufficient among 'honorable' men. But, there are very few 'honorable' business men anymore and every last loophole has to be sewn up tight in order to prevent assholes from taking advantage of them, in the name of 'good business'.

He won't because it's on a channel he is boycotting just like how he boycotts Rush.
Not boycotting, just don't bother watching anymore because of the extent of their obvious slanting over every single story.

They aren't a news organization, they are a propaganda organization.

I'm actually boycotting Fox right now for firing The Judge. ;)

But I watched it on Youtube. And Stossel is hardly your regular Fox personality.

I don't have any particular issue with Stossel or Fox. I also agree we have too many regulations. That's the easy part.

Harder part is how do we change it? A lot of the regulations were put into place for valid reasons. They may be poor solutions, but to they are real problems. Just getting rid of them is an equally poor solution IMO. Then again, maybe there is no feasible solution.

Many of them were obviously put in place just to protect certain businesses from competition, or put in there specifically at the behest of certain groups, such as Nashville's service car ordinance, or CA's ADA law which pretty much encourages lawyers to sue businesses even if they comply with the law. We could start with those. But I think there is no feasible solution, as these types of laws will continue to get passed because they profit the people who pass them.

It just seems the populist angst isn't thoughtful enough not to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

The corporatacracy is just as much a problem as far left liberals.
