In my opinion I DID by the better bike. And now I'm making it better, or at least having a blast thinking I am.
It's kind of funny how everyone claims elightenment when they proclaim ALL top tier sportbikes are good and only the riders make a dufference because they're so close in performance... Then when someone adopts that line of thinking assuming the base model he's working from is on par with all others people leap in and proclaiming NO bike X is SOO much better!
I love Barf it keeps you on your toes because so many try to knock you down constantly

Really though... I can't understand it. Isn't this a moto site? If I post mods people ask "how much that shit cost!". And if I post how much it costs, then I'm bragging... If I pick up a KLR they'll say "spend the cash get something better!" if I get something better its TOO good for me

That's too early on a 600, but you may be carrying a lot more speed you need to scrub on a 1000.

Wait... If they can be called "Jap Cookie Cutter" bikes, can I call Ducatis "Dago wop rockets"? The last time I checked, Yamahas, Suzukis, Hondas, and Ducatis all had the same "stuff" on their Motogp bikes
And it's also an easier decision for me to buy a "jap cookie cutter" and double it's price in mods because it's still less than a 1098R (I know, I priced them)
Also.. Take a look at the fancy Ohlins and Brembo they put on the Ducatis
Its OEM Ohlins and Brembo made for Ducati in which many parts are cast rather than billet to save money (not all, but many)The R/T forks you buy as aftermarket is not the same as the OEM Ohlins forks they put on Ducatis, its a slightly lesser grade.
To me it's all 6 of one half dozen of the other. I love my bike... with a passion in the same way as say, someone who built a 67 Challenger from parts would love his car more than a brand new BMW 3 series, even though it could be argued that the 3 series was superior to the Challenger in every way imaginable... Except the way that it really counts.

and your bike, too. I don't care how much you spend on it, or what you do to it, because I pay $300 PG&E bills. So LOGICALLY, I have $300 less per month to spend on iron maidens for my moto-sIckle. I am doing tassels, instead.

I've noticed that specialized forums like the R1-Forum.com in example, are more about the motorcycle(s) (i.e. Bike of the Months, Appearance & Mods sub-forums). Forums like BARF are more about motorcyclists. It's a more volatile subject.

I have no idea... I was never timed, or timed myself, which I felt stupid about since I could have at least USED the lap timer I have on my bike from the factory for an estimate.
It was just reaching with the thumb on the clutch hand and pushing a button, but you know... Coming down the straight, I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't even hunt for that button to hit it
Maybe next time.I was in the B groups though, and no one was passing me, except this one time an A group rider went out with us to scrub in tires and was a holy terror to everyone on the track... I caught up to several people, but I never passed, again because there was so much to do and I was overwhelmed with just riding

No. No. No. No. Don't EVER post lap times, unless you are in the top five of AFM. This would open you up to more ridicule than putting a turbo-charger on a 250 Ninja. Those numbers are for YOUR edification, not a target for everyone to take pot-shots at with loaded keyboards.
