my screen blacks out from time to time just for 3 to 4 seconds and then flicks back on

i need help any mac users its pissing me off

Check your energy saver settings under systems preferences. Sounds like that may be turning off the display. I turn mine off when I'm watching video for that reason.

How old is it? Do you still have Apple Care on it? If not I would STILL go to the Genius Bar to have it looked at. But still...if you have enough patience you could find help on forums. Go the to the discussions area of Apple.com or try Appleinsider.com

it is neither
1. Unless you are really confident, tell us what your settings are on energy saver.

2. Wiggle around the damn monitor cables. People might be surprised how many of those things suck the big one.

energy saver

1 hour each and the screen saver is on 2 hours

Do you have the "battery option" available under energy saver? You shouldn't....but.
Did you try the wiggle cable thing to see if you could get it to go on or off?

does it happen when you move your mouse cursor to a corner of the screen? there is a setting that shuts the monitor off when you do that (really annoying setting if you ask me).

Good one. You can turn that off, btw. :teeth

Edit:
HOW to turn it off -
System preferences - Dashboard & Expose - Active Screen corners - Select (-) zero, nada, nothing.
Problem solved.

:laughing I forgot about that too, I always turn that stuff off.

Though if you think about it, that could come in handy if you're viewing something personal (four letters, starts with P), and someone walks in the room....quickly move the cursor to the corner and blammo, it's hidden from prying eyes.

I have used torrent, but I'm the wrong guy to ask since I have done software, music and video. I'm not a fan of people getting shit for free. Sooo, I don't help much that way. M'kay?
