A while back I attended a service in the heart of Chinatown. Afterwards, there was a procession of about 30 cars to the burial site in Colma. People carpooled and I was driving one of the SUVs.
We were being escorted through the streets of SF on a busy Saturday by 4 (I think) motorcyclists who whisked us all the way through town to the cemetary, and I don't think we had to stop more than once.
The riders leap-frogged each other to the intersections, blocking all traffic so we just sailed through. 2 bikes would hold traffic until all the cars had come through, and then haul ass lanesplitting past everyone to the following intersection and so on. They were perfectly coordinated and it was graceful poetry in motion.
They were not riding police bikes, but could have been mistaken as such because of their semi official looking attire. I'm assuming it is a private company.
Anyway, I was very impressed. At first I thought, "Damn, I want that job!" but, well, a man's gotta know his limitataions, right?
Anybody on this forum doing this work? Are they moonlighting LEOs?
