Indian Scout FTR1200

attachment.php

Yeah, spot on...

https://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/ftr1200/

Looks pretty damn awesome. The 1200 model weighs in at 508lb wet and the 1200S is 518lbs.

The 1200S comes with a 4" LCD Touchscreen,3 Ride Modes (Sport, Standard Rain), Lean Angle Sensitive ABS, Stability, Traction and Wheelie Mitigation Control, USB Fast-Charge Port, ABS, Cruise Control

I wonder how the touch screen will work with gloves...

13k $$ seems pretty reasonable for a bike like this. I think they're going to sell quite a few.

Just got this from Indian. They want me to buy one I guess....:teeth

[edited].....What bike is it competition?

that's the Q with which we briefly flirted earlier here -
while not arguing with Duc references,
I step out & claim, "it has no direct competition"

that's why I raised the no-longer-sold XR1200 as a candidate,
while believing itz really no contest [Caliph Surjz "teabag" comment]

I'll be taking a test ride, thatz for sho.....!

Differences between FTR 1200 & FTR 1200 S

".....The primary differences are suspension, the onboard display, the available colorways, and the availability of traction control, lean-angle sensitive stability control, and wheelie mitigation control.

Both motorcycles have the same specification engine, brakes, wheels, exhaust, and tires. The price point is $2,000 USD apart, with the entry-level FTR 1200 retailing for $12,999 USD and the FTR 1200 S selling for $14,999 USD.
....."

Ducati Scrambler or Hypermotard.

Pretty much this. If it had been available a year ago, when I bought my Hyper, I would've considered it for sure. Hell I fell in love with the HD Roadster until I checked it out in person and did a few test rides. As good as I thought it looked the performance just didn't match up and I couldn't see spending another 5-8K on it to get it where I thought it should be. So, I went with the Hyper and couldn't be happier. However now I think I might have to take a ride down to the Indian dealer and see one of these in person. Wonder if I can sneak one in the garage without the wife noticing? :teeth

I am not sure what everyone is so excited about?...

People complain all the time about how heavy a 500lb bike is, yet everyone is super juiced how great this thing is? This is a big fail in my book... 500lbs, $13k, what? Why?
Indian had one job in my mind. That was to make a street legal, light weight, reliable street tracker... And they didn't. They made a bloated, 500lb TFT dashed street bike.

Sigh.

I am not sure how this even competes with a Hypermotard, which comes in at 440lbs. Or even a Ducaca Scrambler 1100 at 450lbs... And a 19x18 wheel combo? What the freak. 3.4 gallons? :wtf

Bold is by me. I was ready to buy a MOTUS until I rode one. Just was not for me. I REALLY like the FTR1200S, have sent my info to Arlen Ness to let me know when he will be getting one. But I will have to ride one before dropping the money on one. Just hope the seat is not too high, with the gas tank under lowering the seat may be a problem.

Too bad about the 18" rear, although I guess 19" DOT tires aren't really a thing

Exactly. The 19" front should be ok, thanks to the big ADV bikes there's sport tires available. But what do you put on a 4.25x18 wheel? Pretty skinny.

And the tank capacity? OH WAIT... Didn't Briar Bauman run out of fuel Saturday night at the Minnesota Mile, blowing a certain win :laughing (just timely humor)...

And don't forget the inferior direct-mount shock.

Looks like a real missed opportunity. Now I understand newer bikes gaining weight due to emissions devices and ever-increasing displacement but 518lbs on this style of bike is just :thumbdown

I doubt there are many bikes with that *wide* of an 18" rear

the big boy KTMs do, by 1/4", which means the same tires should work fine

It was always going to be a bike I’d admire from afar. If I’m in the market for a 1200 vtwin it’s going to be a Monster R.
