Is AAA worth it?

I believe they'll tow any vehicle you want (of a type covered by your policy) if the member is there

Agree, they will also tow a members vehicle if the member is not there.

Ok... So...I just upgraded my membership to Premier... it's a NoBrainer, considering the cost of towing, trip interrupts and overall Peace of Mind.

The memory of the towing fees I paid when my Escape puked it's trans off of Flagg Ranch Road, halfway to BFTeton.

Nearly 400 to tow us to the Ford dealer in Rexburg, Idaho. Ouch. Of course having Premier wouldn't have helped with the lack of cell service. I hiked 10 miles or so to find a signal, then spent 15 minutes trying to describe where "Way down that stream bed near **GPS coordinates** was. And then there were the deer flies...

Hmmmm. Which branch for the out of state bike? We just went through this, granted it was a used bike purchased from a dealer with ODO over 20k miles, and AAA told us we had to go to DMV.

I live in so cal.

you need to find a branch with an employee that is certified for it.

Ditto what everyone has said. I bought a Premier membership a few years ago and am glad I did. Besides the fringe benefits of DMV, travel agents and other office stuff, I was 60 miles away when my alternator went out and was stuck on my Goldwing. The driver was there within 20 minutes, he was great with securing a big motorcycle and drove me right to my driveway.

So yeah, the peace of mind is worth it. :thumbup

Also for Oakland and Berkeley bicycle riders, I like how you get a discount for Gig Car.

I've used it when my bike is broken, raining super hard, or even for a point-to-point mountain bike ride.

I found out the hard way that there's a limit of four service calls per year on an account, per person. (Yeah, I rock a fleet of hoopties, but I also had some bad luck with a dead battery and a bad tire puncture.)

That limit is totally reasonable, and the service is still very much worthwhile.

Unfortunately, Norcal AAA doesn't do out of state bikes anywhere that I know of.

Dreading a trip to DMV to register the bike I just got from Neveda.

I use aaa for the tows and dmv services, I have towing through my insurance for my bike so lately i've been using dmv for other bikers that have crashed when I was riding with them who don't have it.

I have premier AAA for the bike towing, and my beater van. I also have a card for my wife, as she and her friends like to go to the casinos. It gives me piece of mind knowing that if the car breaks down on back roads, not only will the car come home, but the ladies will also. AAA will also tow someone else's car if she is a passenger. Worth it to me to know she won't be stuck on the side of the road.

AAA membership - definitely worth it IMO. I could probably be a member for a number of years before I start losing money assuming I never use their services again!

I have premier so I can get a bike towed - kinda handy when you get a random flat somewhere. Also handy when driving to the track - as I've had to use it for that before, too.

The DMV services are super handy, just limited on what they can/will do.
