Is there a way to use earbuds instead of wired helmet speakers that come with a comm unit?

I get your point entirely. Earbuds are earbuds and there's lots more important stuff to worry about.

The earbud world is HUGE I found out.
Plus, I'm in the mortgage business and with rates so high I don't have a lot to do during the day so looking at earbuds keeps me occupied.:laughing
 
I've tried a couple of BT earbuds, but my head seems to take up the whole helmet, so they either get pulled out when I am putting the helmet on, or when I am removing it.
Ive tried using helmets without speakers, and it's not all that comfortable.... so for now I just use the Schuberth SC1 in helmet setup, which is OK, but not 100% great.
 
I have been using in ear monitors (ear buds) with Sena coms for years. ER6i's were the best for me but discontinued many years ago. I tried cheap variants, but the bulk of the ear bud was difficult to keep installed under the helmet. I finally started using S-Plugs about eight years ago. I buy mine from Richard at RKA. They are not inexpensive ($125), but they are durable and comfortable. I like the shorter cable length. It is just long enough to facilitate installation without being too long.
 
Waking up an old thread. I've always used Etymotic Research IEM's as they are amazing at passive noise cancellation while sounding really good. I have mine plugged into my Cardo unit and it combines the best of both worlds - superior ear plugs with much better sound than the helmet speakers. Only trick is putting them in with enough slack in the cable to get the helmet on afterwards, but not so much slack that the cord gets tangled up with the helmet strap. I wrap mine around the Cardo unit and zip tie it tight, with just enough loose wires to get the on/off.
