I don't remember ever having trouble getting into Yahoo but I cannot right now (4:35 pm e.s.t.). My other links all work (obviously). I took off the private IP and also just typed in the basic address but it doesn't work. *Bites tongue, doesn't make it political* Thanks.

You can always try cmd ping yahoo.com and see if you get anything back.

I haven’t been on Yahoo since I used a dial up modem. I’m surprised it’s still around. I suggest you broaden your experiences and leave Yahoo in the dust.

Suggestions? MSN? Some other content page? I've got WAY too much stuff to move from Yahoo to somewhere else though I suppose it could be done with the right incentive.

If you’ve got “stuff” on Yahoo, they’ve got you. I “never” put anything anywhere other than on my personal computer. And I have full backups.

I do make posts on Barf and CaGuns and CalGuns but that’s it. Nothing I couldn’t afford to lose.

I go to Google News for what little news I read and for email, I use Apple. (@icloud.com). Works perfectly and it’s as safe as onr can get.

Otherwise I never keep anything stored at another site.

And most of the news we receive nowadays is heavily censored and manipulated. And it’s full of click bait crap.

Move all your stuff back to your own computer. But first, set up a reliable backup to your own hard drive. I use two sets of mirrored hard drives. One pair in my tower that gets backed up nightly. And another pair that gets backed up when I temember to do it.

If my main hard drive dies, I simply open up my tower and pull my main drive and replace it with one of my two mirrored drives. That would take me about 10 minutes to be back up and running. Then I’d order a new drive to replace the one mirrored drive I used. It will become filled again the next time my backup runs.

FYI, I use enterprise class hard drives. I’ve not had one fail me yet.

And for software I use Carbon Copy Cloaner which can be set to create bootable copies.

One more thing. I would need to call Microsoft and get a new passcode for my office suite. But that’s it.

People still use Yahoo? Do you have a Hotmail address too?
:laughing

AOL. Still see it.

I still Yahoo too, in addition to Gmail. Frankly I worry less about the yahoo than the big brother gmail, although I have worried about the longevity and had had fear of losing it. I lost my Onebox account long ago and learned my lesson, but then forgot my lesson once again and it’s been at LEAST 15 years since I parsed through, deleted crap and saved the whole lot. Sigh.
