It's REAL, you doubting b!tches... Honda RCV1000 v4 street bike

The RC30 only had 98hp stock and the R7 had 107hp [if I remember correctly]
Both required additional power up kits sold separately.

Not light. Not fast. Not timely.

Honda says that the RC213V-S tips the scales at a claimed 170kg dry weight (375 lbs), which isn’t exactly mind-blowingly light. The Ducati 1199 Superleggera weighs 155kg dry, for example.

For track riders, there is a “sport kit” that will bring the bike to even closer spec to the racing machines (we’re still waiting for word from Honda on what is included in this kit), though it won’t be available to USA market machines. This kit drops the weight to 165kg, dry.

Lastly the figure you’ve all be waiting for: out of the box, the Honda RC213V is will make a disappointing 157hp at the 11,000 rpm-spinning crank, but with the sports kit installed, that figure will get bumped to over 210hp. Peak torque is set at 75 lbs•ft at 10,500 rpm, with the sports kit lifting that figure to over 87 lbs•ft.

It should be noted, that those figures are for the European (except France), Japanese, and Australian markets…for the United States, the Honda RC213V-s will be tuned for 101hp at 8,000 rpm (66 lbs•ft of torque) — a figure the bike will be stuck at, since the sport kit is not available to the US market.

It will have to redline at 14k or higher to get 210hp. And WTF did Stoner do to the U.S. bike? What is the point? Maybe the kit must be user installed and all bets are off from the factory. Sorta like the S1000RR "power plug".

i wonder if the neutering is comparable to the R6, just dont open the butterflies all the way ever.

knowing HRC, theyve got that ECU locked down like Fort Knox. itll probably be very hard to crack without their support.

Disappointing on every level. Only collectors who want another shiny need apply.

What I am thinking is it will be like the BMW, where you get a jumper plug that the dealer will NOT install. The manual has numerous disclaimers that all factory coverage is over if you use the bike on the street WITH the plug installed.

Would this make a good first bike?*

I don't understand what everyone is disappointed about. It's closer to a real GP bike than the Desmo RR ever was. Same frame, swing arm, damn near close on the engine which is why it requires a kit. That is more than can be said as a GP replica than the Desmo. Probably why the bike also costs more, its pretty damn close to the real deal.

People are getting too hung up on the horsepower. The neutering is a moot point if you have $184,000 for this bike. You are going to get the kit anyway. Not like we all run stock exhausts here because aftermarket is illegal for emissions LOL

Hell the fact that they had to neuter the engine means the engine is pretty damn close to the race engine because it couldn't make power and still fall under regs. For the Desmo they re-designed the whole engine to make production standards.

Excellent point. Given the bore/stroke ratio, compression ratio, valve size, cam timing, and intake/exhaust geometry that is ultimately capable of 200+ horsepower, the only way to make it street legal was with software limits. But it can be upgraded to full capability with just an ecu change, and that's a lot easier than changing the metal bits.

Marquez is a young well paid Honda mouthpiece. As if he'd say anything else.

Me thinks it's because Honda missed their window.

It's like if a girl started jerking you off, stopped before finishing and left, then came back an hour later for another go, and you're sitting there pissed off and don't even care anymore

Um, a handy is a handy is a handy.

So basically spend 185k for half of a bike, spend another (who knows how much,10-20k? ) and void your warranty to finally get the full bike.
