Jack Reacher, former MotoGP gun - wait. What?

Yeah, that’s gonna happen. Actor Alan Ritchson, known to many for his work as the eponymous character in the Jack Reacher series, is going to be cast as a former GP racer in a heist movie trying to track down the thieves of stolen antiques. “You better give me my old mantel clock back or I’m gonna have to do a burnout on your face.”


So here’s a guy who’s about the same size as a MotoGP bike (and probably weighs more) who we’re supposed to believe used to race the things. And it’s going to be mostly about the heist and tracking down the perps, not the racing, although the article says it does have the full support of the MotoGP folks.

I like this actor, and I love all things moto when it comes to film. This hopefully will be good draw to get more people interested in the sport which still doesn’t get anywhere near the coverage or following in the US that it deserves. I’m just a little worried it’s going to be another Driven type of deal where there will be chase scenes with the hero in a t-shirt on a Gixxer wearing faded jeans and paratrooper boots dragging his elbows around corners in the Pennsylvania Amish country or some such like.

Maybe they’ll go for irony and put him on a Grom. Now that would be a fun watch.

that's exactly what it's going to be and i'll probably watch
mindless meathead moving pictures has been a pretty big winner for netflix in the last few years andi'm glad they're expanding their list of actors to fill the roles... chris pratt is getting a little stale and it's impossible to not see him as Andy from parks and Rec doing some kind of mocumentary as an action star

sure, what about when alan was Thad Castle? thad was a meathead in that role too, so i can make the leap

You do know that in that Mission Impossible movie (I forget which one), with the motorcycle scene of Tom Cruise in the motorcycle chase. That was him, on the bike, leaning into the corners sans gear. And at speed.

Most of the time when you see vehicles in motion in a movie/TV show, they go about 25 MPH. They use all sorts of camera angles and techniques to make them seem faster.

Not in this case. Those folks were flying down that roadway for the scene.

No idea how TC gets insured for movies.

FWIW, I really like Alan Ritchson in the Reacher series. Worth watching for (quite a bit better than normal) mindless entertainment. It's pretty smart and well-written.

But yeah, he's fucking enormous.
