Johnson leather experience?

Been to Johnson's for advice and got more than enough and Helimot for gloves and got advice and a tour of the place, met his wife and workers and talked with him for 4 hours.

Both are super cool places and people to meet. Johnson's can cater more to custom/design but Helimot's stuff is made 100% with safety in mind. I'd say Helmut is probably more expensive as well but man is that guy just one of the coolest people you'll ever know.

I do like Johnson's use of TPro armor. Some comfortable shit.

dropped off a jacket for repair. called 10 days past the promised date having not heard from them despite pre paying and leaving phone number to call when ready. non-chalant response....no name, no number - lemmesee... 'red motorcycle jacket with white stripes', yeah, it's done. fuckers. gotta love it. :laughing

I went up to sf today to see what Johnson had, and I was very impressed with the n200afr and pants they had (pants not on the website, but basically exactly the features I like. Accordion leather panels and knee and back, nice style that matches the jacket).

Alan had me try on some sizes, then measured up a few alterations for the best fit. Now I'm just waiting for my turn in the production queue. Not that much more than stuff off the rack from Vietnam, but the quality is far superior.

I had Johnson replace my 2-piece Dainese. As soon as I tried on the Johnson 2-piece, I realized that the Dainese was never a good fit. Alan listened closely to what I wanted and delivered, for a price of course, but the quality and safety features -- Forcefield Armor throughout -- made it worth it.

If you're like me and have fitment problems with off-the rack stuff, consider a custom job. I'm happy with my experience at Johnson Leathers but you couldn't go wrong at Helimot or Zooni's. Consider us lucky in the Bay Area to have so many options.

I really liked the style of Johnson leather more than Helimot or Zooni. So that was a big plus.

I had a fantastic experience with Johnson Leather. I went in with an idea for a specific style of jacket and what they made surpassed my expectations. I met with Alan, he sketched a jacket based on my description, I went in for a couple of fittings, and then picked-up my jacket. You have so many options - you can customize color, zippers, snaps, etc. Whenever I get compliments on my jacket, I tell them I had it made at Johnson.

I was thrilled when I went in with a list of things I wanted from sporty street motorcycle pants and they had the exact thing already.

Posting up a shot of their 2 piece leathers. I think these look fantastic.
