Joining the ADV club...

Per the BMW shop, the factory just loads on whatever is on the shop floor, so I wouldn't be able to specify Pilot Road 5s or Dunlop K-81Rs... :teeth

I’ve been running the motoz tractionator adv on the rear and the pirelli scorpion rally on the front. My buddy anytwowilldo runs the motoz tractionator adv front and back on his 990 and likes them a lot. I love my tires but I must say the 950 is eating the front tire quickly on slab.
 
Yeah, I saw some reviews of the MotOz and they seem impressive. Where do you get them? Revzilla doesn't carry them.
 
I cant remember might have been rocky mountain.

Most likely it will have the michelin anakee adventure tires mounted. That's what was on my 1250GS HP
 
I think it was the 2016 LAB2V not last years.

I would run in to this guy quite often after checkpoints. I'd be like whoa he rode what I just rode on that behemoth. 2016 was just carnage like the worst sandwash sections.

He had a lot of fancy stickers on his bike.

Very relavant to sportbike ,canyon carvers that evolve into Adventure rider , that still want to ride fast in the twisties with sportbikes . The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S fits that niche for me. I was offering a different perspective.
 
There's a reason my BARF name (the self-inflicted one, anyway) is Sweeperbot... I generally sweep the rides and try to ensure everybody makes it to the finish line. :thumbup

That means I can't go as fast as I would really want to. :burnout :laughing

Self-limiting makes me focus on my lines, smoothness, etc. When I'm solo, tho... :party :teeth :wave

And you're the best Sweeperbot I've ever ridden with. :thumbup

He's been the sweeper on dozens of rides that I've been the leader on, and it was great having someone I could trust back there.

Just be warned that when you start riding dirt roads, the sweeper eats more dust than anybody else. :)

I have had the Motoz Tractionator GPS tires on for about 4k+ and I am only about half way through them. I have had them up to 140mph and taken them to Cow Mountain OHV trail. I am typically a Dunlop guy, but Motoz is the only company that truly offer a 50/50 tire that has great street handling & off road capability. I do look forward to trying the new Dunlop Trail Max.
 
CalMoto Lib'mo called on Friday and asked which tires I wanted on the bike. What??

I said I knew that it got shipped from Berlin with dual/off-road tires on it and the salesguy said that yeah, but what tires do you WANT on it? 80/20, 70/30, 50/50?

After picking my jaw up off the floor... I said that I knew I was going to be doing a lot of road miles before I got to the dirt/trails and I wanted something fairly quiet, so 50/50 sounded good. And they're only tires, so I know I'll be changing them around based on my needs & what's out on the market.

Anyway, it should be ready this coming Friday and I'll be doing a ride with the NorCal BMW folks on Sunday from HMB down to Davenport & back. :party :teeth

Not as adrenaline-jazzed as the time Scott took me down Mines on my new-to-me K12R, tho. That was... fun. :loco :laughing :thumbup

EDIT - FWIW, anyone with a BMW can become a member of NorCal BMW, it's a camping club, all events are at different campgrounds, so you ride Saturday to the campground, have the dinner/meeting, party/chat/BS until time to crash, then Sunday is :ride :ride :ride, etc. Fun bunch of folks. :thumbup

Lemmy, etc. are talking about taking a beast into tiny trails, swamps, true deep forest, etc.

If you're doing that as a long-term street rider and ADV noob with a big ADV bike, he's probably right.

But that's not what most Cali trails are like. Ours are Mojave, Death Valley, much more wide-open spaces where a beast with dual tires is perfectly at home. :shrug:
