Kali Helmets

I have a Kali from Catalyst Reaction I really like all the stuff they give with the helmet, extra cheek pads, bag, just a cool overall product.

My suggestion for a new version would be to get it FIM certified - I have no idea what this costs, I am sure it is pricey.

I am getting an AGV K6 today via the AGV website and hope it fits because I can't buy a Arai or AGV anywhere to try it on first not FIM but very light and seems like a great product.

If I have to return it my plan is to go toward HJC FIM RPHA-1n which is pretty new. The visor mechanism seems "interesting" either it will be a pain in the ass or I will love it.

Kali website needs help - I just checked it yesterday and honestly thought they stopped making motorcycle helmets because all I saw where bicycle helmets and I deleted the link. Had I not seen this post I would have kept thinking this was true.

If Kali can make a great 500 dollar helmet that fits me melon with FIM I will buy one right now, as I want to keep supporting the local company.

I just went to the site again and all I saw was bike helmets no motorcycle until I went the link above that has motorsports.

The other thing is when I see this many scripts it looks to me that have nothing to do or know what they are doing. None of this is required to run a the site but very good at capturing information not needed to run a site.

I get a little pissed when I see shopify every other script.

Even this site takes me back to the 90's with it's lack of features and or updates. So I know I am asshole about this shit but trying to help things progress not die from lack of knowledge.

I would like to try an Airoh https://www.motostorm.it/en/motorcy..._term=airoh helmets&utm_content=Airoh Helmets but they do not seem to be readily available in this country.

I’ve heard good thing about LS2 helmets.

Funny you mentioned these two, I spent a couple years distributing Airoh and LS2.

Airoh lids are ridiculously high end. Awesome lids... but I suppose they would have to be, to justify a $700-750 dirtbike helmet! I should've picked one up at our cost, but didn't see any need for a dirt helmet at the time (and we didn't distribute any of their street lids). They are some of the lightest helmets I've ever picked up, and are priced accordingly. Fit n finish is stellar as well. The only complaint we had, as was the case with nearly all Italian brands, was their obscenely poor supply chain. We'd order a container and nearly half of our order was disregarded and shipped whatever sizes/colors they had lying around. It was frustrating because it killed our ability to make the brand successful at the time - in several instances we received the fewest of the most popular sizes (med/large) and would end up swimming in XS and XXL, forcing us to heavily discount them, violating MAP just to keep the less desirable ones from taking up residence in the warehouse. If they're still like most Italian brands, I imagine a lot of distributors/dealers don't want to carry them due to their poor supply chain (which probably got a lot worse, post covid) and unscrupulous order fulfillment. It's a shame, being their sole distributor in N. Americs was a point of pride :x

LS2 is currently in my top 2-3 favorite value helmet brands. I have a Arrow C (Carbon Fiber) FIM for tracking/racing and a composite Assault for street duty. The Arrow is nicer in every way, which makes sense considering it's $450 vs $200 price tag. The only knock I have is that they creak a bit, but everything else is good - clean fit/finish, quality liner materials, good air flow, and aren't terribly noisy. The assault is my first lid with a drop-down visor and I love it - makes riding into the sun much less annoying, especially paired with the tinted/mirrored visor. And the visors are really high quality for the price point, possibly even the strongest single aspect (again, for the price). You can check mine out, if you'd like. The Arrow is a bit too small for me though, it was a freebie/thank you for helping them with product copy for listings, and I got my medium Assault from 'Zilla

Whoa. The BARF rocks wisdom. This ain't Zuck's Book of Facials.

Kali makes a great product ... they are a great local company that has stepped outside of the box as far as the way they make their products. We had a very good run with the for years when we sold their products , but they didn't keep current with the motorcycle end of the game as well as they did on the bicycle side of their business .

When we stopped carrying them in stock, the issues we were facing was their helmets were only DOT rated. They have a lot of tech in the helmets making them as safe or safer than anything on the market, but most $100 helmets had more certs making them more appealing than a $500 + Kali lid.

I hope that Kali returns with a more modern motorcycle helmet. They are kick ass people with a cool idea ... just need a bit of polishing and focus on the moto side of things :thumbup!

Looks like you're in SF? What about the SF Dainese store to try on an AGV K6? Cycle Gear has them too.

BTW, my son uses and loves his Kali Shiva helmet on his Stacyc bike! He has whacked his Mellon in Kali’s in the past … strong believers in the product!

Well I used to live in SF and live in Tracy now, since we are selling / sold our house in Tracy.

I had to leave while we were showing for hours so I drove all the over to SF and went to that shop and every shop I used to go to when I lived there looking for AGV and or Arai helmets only one shop had one and it was a small white one too small I wear a large.

They all offered to order one for me. I then drove to every cycle gear between SF to Tracy I think 4 of them and none had either of the helmets which is just a Large Black Solid version.

After 2 months of waiting around and tossing my Arai into the bin because I kept using it even though it was 10 years old and I had to keep gluing together I am wearing my Kali helmet at the moment.

The good news is the K6 visor showed up yesterday a very cool blue one and I will get the helmet tomorrow so I hope it fits so I don't have to send it all back. I will be sitting at my computer wearing the helmet for 10+ hours I need to break it in.

I would have loved to give the money to Kali but I agree with the other posts they fell behind on motorcycle helmets and I do hope they update things I would love for them to become the Arai of America hand made FIM certified bad ass designs but they seem focus on bicycles which must be a better business for them.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought myself a nice new Kali Catalyst helmet in blue. $200 all-in, including shipping.

Seems very nice, but I haven't ridden it yet - just tinkering to get my Sena to fit. I do appreciate the extra (different size?) cheek pads and being local, it came within just a few days.
