Kernville Cancelled - Morro Bay it is! - Sweeping Winger is on the books 7/12-7/14

I rode around Kernville in October doing a loop through Sherman pass and came away thinking that was the right time of year. The river tubing crowds are gone and so are most tourists on the backroads. Still warm in the valley.

All of central coast goes crazy, when the heat comes to the valley. Last minute stuff, IS stuck in traffic.
Weather news, I get a full shot of So Cal sometimes, all that red covering Calif, except a narrow strip O' Green, along Morro's coast line.

Update OP with hotel info in Morro Bay.
I figure we will ride in some heat, but not for hours.

Friday ride out will include some hot weather.
Lockwood looks to be hottest @ 95 with Paso at 94. I figure we will roll through Lockwood around noon. The coast where Morro Bay is supposed to be 72 and will provide relief and even some real cool in the evening.

Yeah i cheched the weather in that area the other day, by the time it really gets hot we should be over on the coast anyway.

That was pretty cool. I wonder what the next surprise the XenGod's will bring.

Smart move! This heat is bonkers. Still wish I could join you, I could use some moto therapy.

Not sure you will see any surfing vids :laughing
Guaraaaaaaantee I will not go in the water.

If I found myself in Morro Bay this weekend on a moto outing, I'd give serious consideration to a Saturday/Sunday dawn ride North on Highway 1 to the closure around Lucia, and then back South to Gorda or Ragged Point for breakfast and then back to Morro Bay. In the past, when the highway has been closed, I've found that the odds of an unimpeded ride improve greatly, particularly if you're sufficiently motivated to get out early in the morning. It's an epic ride on the rare occasion when you've got Highway 1 to yourself.

I did think about this when I was living in MB.
Cal-Trans was always moving the "End of Road" closed sign, as needed.
Always changing, fix, washout, repeat, does that.
I was looking for something solid, as a barrier, like the Berlin Wall.
only we got crumbling rock, & disappearing road.
