As in monetary not literally! I went in to Alba to order my part. Danny checked out what I needed online and told me it was 185 bucks. I told him I saw it online for 145. He explained the difference, me doing the work vs him doing the work but he would give it to me for 145.

My question is this, I'd like to kick him something for hooking me up. Yes or No? Cash or Gift Card? What do you guys think? Or is he just doing his job?

Uhm.. I don't know Danny, or Alba, but if you are a frequent customer and plan on going back, a "thank you" gift isn't a bad thing.

He did his job, and didn't really do anything out of the norm (price matching), and if you are a regular customer that should be thanks enough.

But, you are a nice person and want to say thanks. Just do it already.

I voted he was just doing his job ... if you are especially happy with his service, tell his boss and continue to frequent the establishment. :)

He is just doing his job..but yea +1 on telling his boss what an awesome worker he is

WWJD...?

No, you don't ever give a salesman a kick back. It's illegal, and promotes him taking money away from his employer.

(i.e. giving customers cheaper prices so they can slide him cash on teh side)

But he took my word for it. He didn't go look or anything just said okay I'll hook you up. :laughing

He dropped his prices instantly over 22% on your "word". That isn't "hooking" you up. That's just raping you a little easier.

I have no problem with gratuities in the service industry. It's a nice gesture.

If by chance he was doing so on the sly, don't go out of your way to alert his boss to the fact. More than likely he is allowed to give a break every now and then. Show your appreciation quietly, and go back often for more business. Do not expect the "bro deal" every time.

Him typing or you typing? Give me the $40, and I'll order for you!! I say he's just doing his job via price matching.

Where is the M4M? I am female :laughing

Okay, I am thinking order pizza for him with a thank you? Sound better for you hard cases?:x :laughing

Best thing would be to send a pizza to the shop, or a 12 pack if boss allows it.

Or a dozen donuts in teh morning.

Something the whole shop can enjoy.

Done I'll call tomorrow to see if he is working and have pizza delivered. How many pizza's do you think? 3 large? Crap I don't know how many people are there! You guys make this being nice thing tough :x

A price match is regular business. Kickbacks are reserved for when he is giving you something at cost or similarly sticking his neck out in such a way that he could get fired.

OP, How is this transaction a "hookup" if he matched a compedetors price? You gave him business at retail instead of inflated retail. He owes you.:wow
