Knee drag frustrations....

I'm with EBDave on this one,it can be done,Ive done it several times.I will say though if you lost the front on the brakes it is very hard to save. The times I lost the front it slid pretty slowly the bars went the wrong way and smoke was coming off the tire (t3 thill) I just rolled on the gas and pushed down with my knee and it came back.I have done it once on the street and that one hurt (jeans) but still saved it

Thanks for the backup. The front end save via knee can be done without "luck" but by using advanced riding techniques...:thumbup

Andy Ibbot is the European Director of the California Superbike School, and author of Performance Riding Techniques: The MotoGP of Track Riding Skills, and has been quoted as saying, "....never a nice option as front end losses are very hard to save (and you can forget saving it on your knee slider as this is more luck than a valid skill)."

I like my back up better:rofl . Andy Ibbott brings:

1. Professional Racer? :thumbup
2. European Director of the Keith Code Superbike School? :thumbup
3. Developed his own SuperMoto School? :thumbup
4. Coached Tomas Luthi to a 2005 MotoGP 125 CC World Championship :thumbup
5. Trained additional MotoGP riders in official MotoGP teams? :thumbup
6. Acclaimed author who teaches/advises riders by using advanced riding techniques... :thumbup

@ East Bay - it's obvious people have different opinions and sometimes it takes an open mind to accept that o_^ .

My experience with saving the bike on the slider is that it tends to be a luck of the moment thing... Probably easier to do in T2 or the carousel at Sears where lots of lean has your knee in the right place, and less easy in 4 at Sears, where off camber means your knee is still a ways from the track at lots of lean. In either case I don't think it happens enough to become something to lose much sleep on.

im saying if you apex late youll have more of a chance to crash head long into an on coming car , than you can work on learning how to walk again QUOTE]

fixed

you can just as easily push wide apexing early (turn to soon, you run out of room). You're best bet is to not treat the street like a race track

Ya, hitting the apex is important, especially on narrow mountain roads. I try to avoid going into corners ballout when there's visible traffic.

Screw off-camber turns though. I hate em. lol. (off camber that's opposite of a banked type)

Two friends died this past weekend, on the same day.. :( goddamn it's been a hell of a week..

Oh wow, that pretty bad. Were they riding when that happened? :(
