So someone @ KTM NA/Dealer finally figured out the marketing tragedy this is creating for them? Good! Lets hope they resolve this issue 100% to your satisfaction QUICKLY.

Don't worry about not posting updates, I am sure a few of us a keeping a mental count anyways.
 
One hundred and fifty four days? 22 weeks, or 5 to 5.5 months?

I had to go through a similar situation with a much less known brand a while back for a SYM Wolf 150......eventually they made it right but not without a hassle and a few months of downtime. At the time I was the forum mod for their only forum along with creator/mod of a few of their facebook groups.....I let 'em know how that it'd be really bad for business to break the law and screw me over.

I'm very surprised that a much larger well known brand like KTM would pull this kind of shit. Maybe Mike Cooper at KTM needs a wake up call?
 
Purchased 10/3/15 (155/328 days broken down). This last break down has been going on since 6/24/16 (63 days). The dealer seems very eager/helpful but everything seems to have gone into a holding pattern with KTM since I asked for the buyback 36 days ago. :(

Bump! Any news? Otherwise by my math its BuyBack 50 Days ago and 77 Days Since Last Breakdown? is that about right? Or did they finally do the right thing?
 
You're exactly right! Asked for a buyback 50 days ago, it's up to 77 days on the current break down and 169/342 (49.4%) total days broken down. I hit 173/346 (50.0%) on Monday.

I *might* be able to post a minor update at the end of next week and hopefully I'll have something more substantial my mid-october. :(

Bump! I would like to see a positive outcome for this. Surely if KTM can spend big $$$ money to build & test a MotoGP bike & pay a salary to Mika Kallio & Tom Luthi they can afford to buy back this really crappy example of a 390.

Come on KTM do the right thing. Lots of BARFers with spending power are watching this thread.
 
Heh, right again! ...Except my notes have it at 183/356 days (51.4%).
Working back, it's a leap year so 366 days => 367 days on the RC390's birthday, 10/3/16, so I think today is day 356. I may have posted the cumulative days wrong in one of my previous posts.

No real update. KTM has asked for an extension to October 26th to respond - I assume that will be granted. I haven't seen the bike since early July. Seems like the dealer and KTM may be having some friction too so, it's just collecting dust. :(

KTM if you are reading this, I was a loyal customer with 3 RFS based dual sports over the years. My desire to continue to support you when you do not support us is waning.
Your handling of this particular customer is nothing short of pathetic. I wonder how many others are in a similar situation across the country or globe.
I will not be getting that new 350exc anytime soon since your support and treatment of customers is so poor.
 
Having been through a buyback with a car and had a good experience, after reading this thread I have a very sour taste about KTM. It's sad because I've always wanted one and have had a RC390 and 500EXC on the brains for a while now. I will definitely not be buying KTM after hearing about your experience.

I hope they change their tune and decide to take care of their customer. Otherwise, I hope you take this battle to the attorneys as KTM doesn't stand a chance with their sleazy tactics.

I would be looking to charge interest on all that money of yours they are holding. What possible reason could they have for wanting an extension other than jerking you around and hanging onto the cash a bit longer?
 
I've emailed this thread to a few people who are looking at new bikes so they knew what they would be getting into with a KTM.
 
I did file a lawsuit against KTM on 9/1/16 (Case #BC632594). The process is still ongoing but, it may be wrapping up before the year is out. Due to an NDA I can't disclose any details.

I can express my feelings on the experience so far which has left me with the opinion that KTM and Mike Cooper are, at best, Incredibly petty and have no interest in doing the right thing. I really hope that nobody else ever has to go through this or, if you have to, that maybe KTM maybe learned something from this experience and won't behave as horribly toward you.

If i had to do it all over again, I probably would have lawyer-ed up sooner but, I kept hoping that every breakdown was the last one. The RC390 was fun when it worked but, at this point I really wish I had never bought it. They say you really see a persons or a businesses character when things go wrong and I've certainly seen enough to avoid buying KTM ever again. :(
 
Shameful that a manufacturer turns their back to this. I will never consider buying a KTM. OP I really hope that this works out for you in the end which it sounds like it will. Sorry you had to go through all of this but thanks for keeping us posted.

I am so sorry to hear this, I own too many (older) KTM's (some on here will say my garage is a small warehouse) and this really kicks me in the GUT. One day I was actually hoping to be able to own one of their 450RFR's but customer dis-service demonstrated by KTM NA above is killing that dream.

I will certainly make all my friends aware of this thread. Some have recently purchased 1190's and 690's and they can draw conclusions and decisions on future purchases from KTM/Husqvarna and ANY dealer service for themselves.
