I am no longer crash-less. Went out today with a few sportbike riders in an "I dont give a shit about the superbowl" ride. It was my first time really 'pushing it' on pavement. It was wet out so I wasnt pushing it too hard, but if I'm honest, a lil more than I would have if I was by myself.

The long and short of it is: I approched a coner with too much speed. Locked up the rear trying to slow down before it. Started modulating the rear and corecting while entering the coner, started to lowside going off the left shoulder, When the tires got into the soft left shoulder It stopped the bike and I high sided, landed on my upper back and slide about 15 feet into a thorn bush.

Here's where it really gets fun. My group realise's I'm not there anymore and turns around. We pick up the bike to find the handle bars snapped like a twig. One of the group members (Anthrax Kid) calls his dad (WaterBoy) to come out with his pickup to trailer it somewhere. But while were waiting a CHP comes by.

I dont have a motorcycle liscence.

CPH: "I'm going to write an incedent report and give you a ticket for no liscence"
ME: "Sounds fair"
CHP: "I'm also going to impound your bike"

Dickhead. I also lost me keys while sliding around.

What a fucking day, live and learn blah blah blah, wheres my beer?

And many thanks to Anthrax and Water boy for all the help.

Sorry to hear about your crash and hope you get your bike back asap. Try to get your M1 asap too, and keep off the rear brake!

Sorry to hear you crashed...Hope you're not badly injured...

Gotta say its really your fault that your bike got impounded. The CHP guy is just doing his job and you didn't have a license.

I hope the CHP can keep as many unlicensed riders and drivers off the road as possible.

Why DONT you have your license anyway?

Well........duh! But, shit he was just in a crash, got written up, AND got his bike impounded, I think he learned his lesson.

But, slo1 IS right....if you were gonna learn...believe it or not...this was the BEST possible secnario. Youre just lucky you didnt kill someone else, or get run over.

But, Im glad to hear youre not hurt bad. All you can do is learn from this, and move on. But, do us ALL a favor, and get your m1 before you get back out there.

Props to water boy and anthrax kid for helpin out your fellow rider.:thumbup

What do you expect. Your an idiot for riding without a license. People like you bring up insurance rates. I'm glad you got caught. I'm sorry you crashed but hey, you should have never been on the bike in the first place.

At least get your permit, dude. You can ride during the daytime as long as you stay off the freeways. I'm glad you're okay and I hope it doesn't cost too much to get your license back. It's not that hard to get your license, and as you now know, it's well worth it.

Sorry for your mishap today Patrick. I know you'll definitely get that license issue taken care of now. Hope all goes well with getting your bike back.

Yeah that cop was a dickhead we are not just saying that because he inpounded the bike its the way he went about doing so... with a whole lot of attitude.

:mad

But anyway it was good riding with you pat i cant wait till you get your bike back so we can go riding again.:)

Aww geeez

The road gods were not out this weekend??? First off glad you aren't hurt......... Probably sore.....
Get the bike back and get started on the permit at the very least!!!

Hmm...I was going to join these guys, if it weren't for the rain. Sorry to hear about your luck. Lesson learned, I guess, huh?

:laughing

Couldn't have said it better!

What did you expect, the cop to give you a reach-around and a clean hanky when he was done?

shut up turd you wern't there

WaterBoy was there with his truck, and we were about to load it on. The bike was obiously broken and not about to be ridden. Thats why I think it was a lil harsh to impound it.

Yes I understood it was a risk everytime I got on my bike in the last 2500 miles, but that doesnt mean I have to like it when it happens.

And perhaps it's an attitude problem of mine, but I fail to see how an extra letter on a piece of plastic in my pocket would have prevented the crash. But everyone who insures a dual-sport bike, one of the cheapest type of bike to inssure, can blame me. I can handle it.

Just bad timing. I used to ride my stepdad's CL200 all the time getting to the dirt area where i ride. I got lucky in not getting caught.

That sucks.

Welcome to the jungle....

when you do get your license make sure you have proof of insurance and registration...i forgot mine and got written up for it...after cruising 80+ (what she said) on Hwy 17...i wasn't going that fast...must have been speedo error.

I bet the officer would have been fine if kile had his lic. When you deal with people who do stupid stuff, and that is what cops deal with 90% of the time, you tend do turn into a dick. It's the "why the F@#K can people just do what they are supposed to" mentality.

well said m8

Sorry to hear about it and glad you're okay. It really was the best scenario.

Don't worry about these people flaming you--they should know better than to talk like complete fucking assholes.

I'm happy that you were not hurt too bad. Good luck with getting your bike back and getting everything legal!!
You know those guys that are flaming you--- they never break the law and ALWAYS drive/ride at (or below) the posted speed limit.
