Long OP - The Electric Transportation Device AKA the E-Motorcycle

I've ridden Thumpers, parallel twin, v twins, v 4's, tripples, in line 4's, two strokes, four strokes, no strokes and some folks. I've had fun on all of them.

If you can't enjoy riding the bike you're on that's on you.

Y'all are missing out on steam powered motorcycles! These nonsense ICE gas bikes take away the essence of what it's like to literally fire up your motorcycle, make sure its topped off with water and shovel in coal as you ride through the twisties.

Shut your hole, the future is now old man.

Your assumption that all the things electric motorcycles don't have are what motorcycling is "really about" is the big problem here. Most people who I consider real motorcyclists actually enjoy riding. All the other design, noise, fashion, etc., is just a matter of preference. If you don't ride motorcycles because you enjoy riding, then you're in it for the wrong reason.

As soon as they make an electric bike that will do what I need it to, I'll be switching. I think the tech allows for a more pure riding experience.

From the OP but in the first paragraph:" It's all just opinion here, no links, no references, no studies."

There is no problem here, never was. I qualified why I posted what I did. At the end I asked three questions. The assumption and the problem would be in the first quoted post, highlighted in bold.

Your questions are not answerable by someone who doesn't share your opinion about what the "essence of motorcycling" is.

This is going to be an ongoing conversation, for sure.

I'm squarely in camp ICE. I've been fortunate enough to ride quite a few electric motorcycles. They are objectively good, there is no denying. For those who have embraced the technology, I am excited for them.

That doesn't mean everyone has to. That doesn't mean that they're the answer. I accept the fact that electricity is the future. Just like disc brakes and independent suspension on cars. Those things are certainly the standard now, but if you've ever been to a Good Guys car show, you should take not of the sheer number of cars with stick axles, drum brakes, and *gasp* carburetors. As time time marches on, there will be less and less of them, but that doesn't mean that the enthusiasts who embrace them are bad people.

I seriously doubt I will ever own an electric motorcycle. I would probably quit riding if that were my only option. That doesn't invalidate me as a motorcyclist or an enthusiast. It's simply an illustration of my preferences. I'm privileged enough to live in a time where I have the options I do, and I am grateful for that fact.

I'm not here to preach to those who disagree, but I'm also uninterested in being badgered into reconsidering my position. For those who mock the non electric enthusiasts by spewing "accept the future" comments: you sound like southern Baptist threatening hellfire, please stop.

But have you ridden a VStrom 650? Cause that's truly the benchmark.

Also I had zero fun on the NC700X. None. Zilch. Nada.

The bike itself plays a HUGE role.

I guess as long as the bike has spokes, I'll be OK :rolleyes

Been riding ice bikes for over 50 years with life consuming passion, addicted to their “essence”. Currently I have a BMW S1KR no one, me included after twisting the throttle would call it boring. I also have a 5 year old Zero that around here will get me 60 miles with frisky riding, 70 calmly. Anytime I have a ride within that range I’m hopping on the Zero and it is a thrill! My grins are as big as any bike has planted on my face. I truly enjoy the silence just as much as the howl of the Beemer. I love that it costs nothing for fuel from my solar charging, no fluids other then brake, oil changes or coolant flushes, or VIBES!. I beam going down the highway thinking about just 4 moving parts propelling me and half of those are the wheels!

To each his/her own, but you all owe yourself to experience the “essence” of an electric motorcycle. Demos are easy to come by. Bring your wallet!
