Does this mean I still gotta pay your ss ?!?!
Sadly, my friend, the answer is yes. Please keep working, we just got a ss raise and I'm celebrating.

Well, ok
That's actually maybe the best reason I have to keep working![]()

My physical therapist told me to start out with modified pushups, from the knee, or even against the wall, until the wound and nerves get accustomed to the strain.
It's such a weird feeling when you are trying so hard to do one pushup and nothing happens.
You mean like, girl push ups? I was able to get two regular pushups done yesterday, but still had the dizzying blackness afterwords. I'm also going to start one minute planks and try to extend the time by a few seconds each day. I went on a 10 mile bicycle ride yesterday and the crotchal area is quite tender today, but the knee is starting to feel better.
I'm just recovering from sheer laziness, so I can't even imagine how hard it is for you. I had a coworker that showed us an MRI of his neck and the spine looking like it pinched down to 1/3 the size - old injury from youth. His surgery went in from the front and he spent a year getting back to his old self and was pain free. Good luck to you![]()
Well, I had my three month checkup and the Doc was very please. "You're fully protected." I'm cleared to begin any exercise I want, with pain as the regulator. Ok to ride bicycles and motos (BUT NO CRASHING.)
Super pleased that I'm up to five pushups and starting to bench press 80 pounds without pain. I can see this will be a slow process but happy that the bone implants knit and the rods and screws and apparatus are all functioning properly.
Did the implants make you any nicer or faster though ?

I’m glad to hear how well you’re doing, Ernie.
Food for thought: A co-worker, who is a triathlete, crashed on his bicycle while training three weekends ago. As far as I know, he didn’t hit another vehicle, but crashed while trying to avoid a collision. He broke C3.
When he woke, he couldn’t move from the neck down. The cord isn’t severed but has lesions and related swelling. He’s slowly regaining sensation and some movement. I don’t know the prognosis.
Only you know how vulnerable your neck is compared to how it was previously. Riding a bicycle is arguably better for you than riding a motorcycle but if you’re vulnerable in a fall, don’t fall.
This isn’t meant to be a downer but my co-worker’s situation was a dose of reality for me.
Improvement continues. I'm pretty much almost back to normal bicycle rides, knocked out a nice 25 miler this weekend from my house across the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island and back. Fun ride!
Bench press continues, now knocking off 20 reps of ninety pounds and 2-4 at 125 pounds, which makes me happy. Working to get back to benching my body weight.
All in all i am very happy with how this turned out. I probably won't be riding motos anymore, maybe a cruiser, but my neck is just too vulnerable.
