In before a recent msf/cmsp graduate comes in to say you can’t put a foot down or else you’ll instantly die

Agree, I think I died a little in spirit after this ride. Also those aren't slicks on a little dirt bike. We all know you cannot generate enough heat to properly run them on the streets. Especially on Redwood Road. Photoshop.

Rufino...

Redwood Road Runs from Castro Valley into Oakland.
Nothing impressive about it. just a mildly curvy road.
Twisty would not what id call it, just mildly curvy. That's my .02

This is a good description. Wide 2 lane road with no turns signed below 20.

I'm curious what roads can be called "twisty". Does it mean those roads must have corners marked at some speed less than 20 MPH? How many such turns? Is there an acceptable ratio of number of sub-20 MPH turns/mile that must be met to be labeled officially "twisty"? When CalTrans finishes the realignment that it's doing on Hwy 36, will it still be "twisty"?

I've got my issues with RWR, usually related to the topic of the thread - road users who have no regard for anyone else, but it being too flat, straight, and boring was not one of them. I guess I was mistaken. :rolleyes

Twisty is a matter of perspective. Most would say Mines/Mt Hammilton is twisty. While others say that Niles Canyon between Hayward and Union City is twisty.

To be sure you fully understand what twisty roads are. Head up to Highway 49. Between Coulterville and Bear Valley road. From Coulterville ride up to the lookout point at top and ride back down a coupe of times. Your twisty question will be answered.

As mentioned before in numerous threads. RWD is a great road if you can overlook it's flaws. If you like short sprint session with your buddies as you follow each other through there and bullshit afterwards. If your a loner, like to sightsee as you ride, and slow, then this road will irritate you and you'l irritate alot of riders. Yeah yeah yeah slow is also a matter of perspective.

Where is this Redwood Road? I have heard so much about it. Are the local riders friendly? I have heard some negative things out of that road. Are they non sportbike friendly?

Hey man! Where’ve you been? Long time no see bud.

Hola Coyote!!!

I'm back in Chico area. How's it going. If you guys still have your dirt bikes we need to schedule another ride up here. I got a new toy my BMW GSA. I still have the other bikes. Let me know if you guys do a track day at ThunderHill I'm 40 minutes away.

Fuck yeah! We’re trying to hit up THill East on Nov 12 with Fun Trackdayz.

I do still have a dirt bike: a KTM 300 MXC not street legal though. But I don’t remember that being a big problem last time we rode up in Chico. I have a Husqvarna SMR too. I have a 21” front to put on it for dual sport rides.

I really miss that area. We’ve been trying to get a hold of you to ride there again. PM me your number so I can get the guys to do a ride with you up there soon. Everyone has been asking about you. You’ve been MIA

Yeah bring whatever , you won't have to worry about riding it over here. I suggest a bigger gas tank, i think you ran out of gas last time.

You guys still riding RWR like Hooligans and creating BARF drama?

I passed by RWR a few months ago, the road was closed had to turn around and hit Mines/Del Puerto/Mt Hamilton instead.

Nov 12 sounds doable. I might bring the big ole BMW and the 450 Supermoto. I don't ride the gixxer much anymore.

It appears that my attempt at sarcasm was too subtle.

Twist the throttle on your sarcasm Kurt. Step it up. You know typical Barfer will believe what is posted. If it's on the internet it's true.

Point taken. Okay, I'll drop the sarcasm and write what I was thinking during that response. Saying that Redwood is not "curvy" is just silly. Yes, I've ridden the Little Dragon on 49, as well as lots of the roads between the Ventura County line and British Columbia that could be called "curvy", and I can assure you that Redwood meets the definition. The most "curvy"? No. But "curvy", most assuredly.

It appears that familiarity breeds contempt.

Like if someone says Redwood isn't twisty / curvy? :nchantr
