All BLM lands in Carrizo Plain National Monument are closed to public access due to the active Madre Fire. This emergency closure is in effect immediately. (July 3,2025)
As of yesterday evening (7/4) the Madre Fire, has burned 70,800 acres in rural San Luis Obispo County and is the largest wildfire in California so far this year. Containment
is only about 10%.

Was planning on rolling through there on Monday. :(

166 East out of Santa Maria over New Cuyama is closed.

Was planning on taking 33 out of Ventura up to 166, guessing it will be 33 over to Taft then on 58 back over to the coast, depending on smoke.
