Hey all, I'm newer to the forum, and just had a question about clothing.

I recently got a bigger bike and it'll be road worthy soon. I'm looking into some proper gear, and I was wondering if mismatched gear was frowned upon.
I come from cycling where you wear your team kit, or you wear what matches your bike. If you wear a full Look kit, but ride a bianchi you might be branded as a noob (unless you're really fast)

I know wearing mismatched colors will look odd, but will wearing different branded jacket, gloves, boots, and pants make me look funny?

Also, would it be wrong to buy that ducat 80's jacket in the for sale thread if I'm riding a gsxr?...

How snobby are you all? :laughing

Not at all. Matching doesn't mean much to most riders.

I usually wear all black, so I don't have that problem. :)

Wear whatever you want. Who gives a shit if it doesn't match. If someone has a problem with it then fuck em.

I am probably more likely to bat an eye at someone decked out in gear that 100% matches their bike (even then I don't really care) than someone who has on gear but it doesn't match.

That said, I try to buy stuff that is functional and looks decent as well.

Some people care, you can pretty much tell who they are when you see them, or when they are selling all their used gear "because I got a new bike"

Others really don't care at all.

Best not to worry about what other's think, that'll lead to :loco around here :laughing

How else are you supposed to pose at *$ :twofinger

Man and machine are one!

Seriously, who cares as long as it does the job, right? If you can afford to get decked out head-to-toe in Dainese, go for it. I'm generally a fashionable person so it matters to me that colors go together even if my full gear is comprised of 5 different brands.

We're what you can afford that will reasonably save your ass if you need it to. Look on the riding gear classifieds here and buy what's worth a darn and wear it, if it matches, all the better.

Exact match, match is a fashion faux pas. I try to make if where my motorcycle has least on color that isn't no my leathers and visa versa.

I spotted a fellow and a R, W & , S1000RR and he was wearing BMW's R, W & B leather suit & gloves. Looked like a complete tool.

Don't ask me, I wear a Hi-Viz SaferMoto vest over a Cortech leather jacket with Aerostich roadcrafter pants.
I look like a dork but I'm riding.
:ride

I think fit is more important that being matchy matchy.

do what you want. F the rest of them.

Do I get points for mixing and matching brands for boots/gloves/suit? :(

sidenote, god damn I need to work on my body positioning

if everytime you say "fabulous" describing your wardrobe, then you may want to care...

if not, don't give a shit about others and get what you can....

I always assumed that matching clothes = noob

mismatch = pro and/or bad taste in gear

Sorta like snowboarders

I match =(

This is why people think bicyclists are tools.
