Ever since Elskipador moved away, I've been struggling to find a good independent mechanic in our bay area.

This week, I brought my VFR over to Alex Wlasenko in Danville. He has a garage at his house and has a ton of experience. It's a relief to find someone who is experienced, trustworthy, friendly and fair. He replaced my fork seals and is working with me to diagnose and repair some other problems as well.

Happy to have found him and hope he can help you as well. I know Danville seems like another country from the city but from Berkeley it's not that bad...

Here is his yelp ad: https://www.yelp.com/biz/alex-wlasenko-motorcycle-repairs-danville

and here is the Craigslist ad I found him from:

Hi, my name is Alex. I offer very good prices compared to the shops located around me. I have experience working on Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, KTM, Yamaha, Triumph, Ducati, BMW, Harley Davidson, Aprilla, and many other brands of motorcycles. I've been a motorcycle hobbyist, enthusiast, and mechanic at multiple repair shops. ive ridden my whole life, and a very experienced rider in the dirt and on the street. If there's a problem on a bike, I can fix it. I can also perform regular maintenance. I am good at almost every job that can be preformed on a motorcycle. I also have experience in welding and fabrication of custom parts and fix-it jobs. I offer mobile work as well. Please don't hesitate to call or text. 925 886 9492

Berkley Performance on Gilman is first rate. The service writer person behind the counter is Susan, the owner, she is awesome.
They did a full service on my Concours 14, which of course is covered in Tupperware. they were not cheap cheap, but very thorough. strongly recommend

Might have to make that ride. We had a good shop in Concord, but they closed a couple years back.

I like Hayasa MotorBikes in Oakland. Tyler is very knowledgeable about older Japanese bikes

I’ll definitely note Alex’s contact info. I’m in Pleasanton about 15-20 minutes south of Danville.
Randomly picking a shop/mechanic is always a crap shoot so this really helps.

It's hard to find someone who does good carb work. If it's specifically carburetors you need work on, I can vouch for Steve at Contra Costa Carburetor in Concord. He did a great job tuning up the Dellortos on my Ghia and I'm sure I will use him if I run into issues rebuilding the itty bitties on my 350F.
