100k miles is still a big psychological weight for some people and their autos... Sometimes (like probably here- I have no experience, I'll defer to the experts) it's warranted.
I think that with any vehicle, at upwards of 100k you are going to start to replace things such as the timing belt, water pump, starter, etc. then its all a case of how much $$ for parts and labor.
Conversely, if you buy a new car, you shouldn't have to pay anything outside of standard maintenance. Obviously, this is offset by depreciation.
