Since I discovered that a forum member lives less than a km away from me...

I have seen this before, where members can put a pin on a map. Maybe that needs to be set up on a google map and then connected to the forum?

Just a thought. If I knew this 10 years ago, my experience and life here would have been different.

I was also thinking of the search, the new posts search. I think there is a way to add a switch to the URL to exclude specific forums, like the polisci one. I've used it on other forums before. Does something like that work here?

Posters aren't the only ones using a pin on a map.
The spammers and AI can reach out and touch someone.

Nice surprise. We will have to get coffee or drink sometime.

If you want all of us on one map, you would need to show at least the western half of the USA, maybe the whole country, and maybe the whole world. If you really want to know where other BARF members live you could start by listing a place that can be looked up in Google Maps in your own "Location" setting. :rolleyes

I do not want nor approve any personal identifying information on an old or new map on BARF. To do so without express permission is a breach of privacy.

What exactly is going on in this thread? I see my name at the top in the 'Test' window.
Please splain it to me
...

I think this is a nice idea. I wouldn’t want my exact address listed though.
What are the details of the plan?

I'm pinned on a few maps.
Bunk-a-Biker
Adventure rider Tent Space
BMW Anonymous Book
I've had some really great experiences with BAB and Tent Space with riders coming through and spending a night or 2.
The maps work well too. You're pinned on the map and you decide how much information is available to anyone. You can zoom in or out on the maps worldwide.

You put in there you are Member #294, but I see no other info other than your join date. And that's how the map would work. You decide to use it or not.
