Up to two now.
Anyone who has ever looked into the glazed eyes of a soldier dying on the battlefield will think hard before starting a war.

There are so many to be honored and most we will only know as an American soldier :flag

I learned by reading about flag etiquette, for some reason, that on Memorial Day, if you are to fly the flag, you should fly it at half staff until Noon, out of respect for those you're memorializing. At noon, you can raise it up. I avoided the issue (not having the ability to put the flag halfway) by flying it AT noon.

I always find it a somber day. I think of those that sacrificed and those that were sacrificed and imagine the thousands of lives and what could’ve been.
OP, there could not have been a better quote.

Let us also not forget those who fought and returned home physically and mentally damaged.

Bless you, dad.

That’s a tough thing to deal with. More than 80 years living with that trauma.

I have an uncle who served. He is 101 now. My father died at the young age of 54, partly due to the trauma he suffered fighting in France.

We owe them so much. And there is little we can do other than making a vow that it will never happen again.
