i'm in, depending on where. east bay is best for me, as i currently have no way to transport the bike. so maybe the east bay hills, or redwood road (north of lafayette).....?

Sunday anytime works 4 me

BTW: daren, did u receive those rearsets yet?

Yeah Charlie, I did.......thanks!

Well, being that Charlie doesn't have transportation for his bike, AJ, you down for a ride in the East Bay?

Charlie, plot out a coarse for us and meet spot, if AJ accepts. Also let's include a place for lunch. As far as time, let's meet at 10am, okay?

ps, where's Secn8ure.......Bueller?................ Bueller?

pss, doesn't necessarily have to be just mini's. If Big Bikes want to join in, that's cool too. Just keep in mind, we (mini's) are confined to urban roadways ;)

I can meet you in the east bay if absolutely nessasary. I might have to ride my mito though. Keep me updated on the meet spot and route please.

If I can make it out it'll be on the motard. Palomares to Redwood Rd. :teeth

Gonna start the top-end rebuild on the NSR this weekend.

i'm down for Grizzly peak, to skyline, to pinehurst, to redwood... going south or north, whatever is most convient for the majority.... then turn back whenever we feel like it, then maybe travel back up the way we came, then go down in to berkeley to get some burritos at that taqueria thats at that weird triangle intersection of clairmont and alcatraz.

sound good?

btw: i'm free most every weekend, so if we wanna postpone, thats OK. and in a couple weeks, i might be able to transport the NSR via cage.

.................sooo next weekend i'm assuming?

yeah, I will have to postpone this ride after all, some plans changed at home.......sorry guys :(

No can go next weekend....Dj'ing a wedding and it being Easter Weekend. Btw, I plan to do Stockton that Tues.

As it seems, plans had changed once again :toothless

Wife gave me the green light once again. Being that this was last minute, I had to decide where and how long of a ride.

First thought was riding towards Santa Clara. Then thought, "nawww, way too short". My next thought was Calaveras. Heck, why not?!? Always wanted to try it on the YSR :teeth

I jumped on Yahoo and started plotting the coarse in my head. Now, the thought was to 680 and turn back? Heck, why not just keep going ?!? :p

So I rode 'non-stop' thru the Calaveras hills, thru Niles/84 Canyon, thru Palomoras towards Castro Valley (580). From there, Dublin Canyon rd towards Foothill rd, to Pleasanton/Sunol rd towards Niles/84, and back up thru Calaveras to home.

Damn, what a long treck!!!!!! My arse is very sore as I type *cry laughing* OH, as far as miles? I rode approx 78 miles and burned approx a gallon of premix (guesstimated).

The scenery along Calaveras, Niles, Palamoras, Pleasonton/Sunol was absolutely beautiful! Green everywhere. Seen lots of cows, which I attracted a lot of their attention as I buzzed by (lol). I tried to enjoy the scenery as much as possible. But being on Calaveras, I had to pay close attention rounding corners, a lot of blinders.

I encountered many cyclist along Calaveras and several on Pleasonton/Sunol. They were very courteous as well as curious, as I cruised by them, being on a 2-smoker.

On a funny note......

along the lower portion of Calaveras near 680 (long straight/50mph), a cyclist was heading the opposite (towards the hill climb) direction. As I approached, he motioned his left hand towards his head as if he were giving me a LEO alert. But rather, put his hand up to his ear. As in, let me hear what you got?!?. So I pulled in the clutch revved it up a few times and then opened it up. I immediately went into warp speed (over 60mph). After a distance, I got back off the throttle and returned to the posted limit (50 mph).

On another funny note, I had just told the wife where I rode. Her reply was "on the little bike?". I replied "yes". her reply, "you're nutz". :laughing

Having the 72cc is so refreshing! I can count on power immediately, regardless of what gear I am in. I hardly ever got into 6th gear......maybe a couple times at most.

Hopefully, y'all can join me on my next Calaveras Rd adventure, and hope you enjyed the read. Sorry, no pix......next time.

Wow! From your neck of the woods to Calaveras, then back?!? That would make one heck of a ride :loco Btw, at the bottom of Calavares (Milpitas side), there is a Shell and 76 ;) Furthermore, there is a *$ and plenty of areas to grub for lunch/rest.

Oh yeah, gotta get yourself a bike tote, so you can haul the mini to the meet/riding spots :p

Yeah Daren pretty brave to do Old Calaveras on a mini :wow It's hairy enough on a big bike let alone a mini but still a very nice ride up through there. Some of those corners you really have to be awake and not daydreaming about the scenery :zzz :laughing

actually, imo, a mini is better suited on roads like these, small and very flickable. There are quite a few corners I can find myself carrying a spirited pace through (dragging knee) :p You're right, you don't wanna be daydreaming on these roads, altho' I can find it very easy to do.

It's not really the roads it's the width of the roads and the idiots that come drifting through on occasions and cross the line :wow

ah......good point!

On this ride, I encountered maybe five cars, both directions. Even passed two, that had pulled aside for me.

On other occasion(s), yes, a pucker moment can happen instantly. I recall one encounter of that scenerio when I had the Ninja 250. Fortunately I was at a slow enough pace that allowed me to react without incident.
