As it seems, plans had changed once again
Wife gave me the green light once again. Being that this was last minute, I had to decide where and how long of a ride.
First thought was riding towards Santa Clara. Then thought, "nawww, way too short". My next thought was Calaveras. Heck, why not?!? Always wanted to try it on the YSR
I jumped on Yahoo and started plotting the coarse in my head. Now, the thought was to 680 and turn back? Heck, why not just keep going ?!?
So I rode 'non-stop' thru the Calaveras hills, thru Niles/84 Canyon, thru Palomoras towards Castro Valley (580). From there, Dublin Canyon rd towards Foothill rd, to Pleasanton/Sunol rd towards Niles/84, and back up thru Calaveras to home.

Damn, what a long treck!!!!!! My arse is very sore as I type *cry laughing* OH, as far as miles? I rode approx 78 miles and burned approx a gallon of premix (guesstimated).
The scenery along Calaveras, Niles, Palamoras, Pleasonton/Sunol was absolutely beautiful! Green everywhere. Seen lots of cows, which I attracted a lot of their attention as I buzzed by (lol). I tried to enjoy the scenery as much as possible. But being on Calaveras, I had to pay close attention rounding corners, a lot of blinders.
I encountered many cyclist along Calaveras and several on Pleasonton/Sunol. They were very courteous as well as curious, as I cruised by them, being on a 2-smoker.
On a funny note......
along the lower portion of Calaveras near 680 (long straight/50mph), a cyclist was heading the opposite (towards the hill climb) direction. As I approached, he motioned his left hand towards his head as if he were giving me a LEO alert. But rather, put his hand up to his ear. As in, let me hear what you got?!?. So I pulled in the clutch revved it up a few times and then opened it up. I immediately went into warp speed (over 60mph). After a distance, I got back off the throttle and returned to the posted limit (50 mph).
On another funny note, I had just told the wife where I rode. Her reply was "on the little bike?". I replied "yes". her reply, "you're nutz".
Having the 72cc is so refreshing! I can count on power immediately, regardless of what gear I am in. I hardly ever got into 6th gear......maybe a couple times at most.
Hopefully, y'all can join me on my next Calaveras Rd adventure, and hope you enjyed the read. Sorry, no pix......next time.
