Monster Ride home!

How did you manage to do all those thousands of miles, with the wind buffeting you, and not go CRAZY!

:laughing

:laughing I've been riding without a visor/windscreen since I started. Got used to it, and some might actually call me....stubborn. :teeth It's not bad actually.

I was wondering the same thing. I sometimes ride a S2r 800 w/ no windscreen and it gets tiring after a certain speed. Then again, I'm tiny and weak compared to Rick. :laughing

Screw windscreens/fairings, naked is the only way to ride!

You do get used to it, then it's all gravy.

:laughing I always hear the same..."how the hell do you ride without a windscreen?" um...well, I just do. It's not bad. you toughen up, and your body gets used to it. . I really don't see a sportbike having much wind protection or air flow with those tiny wind screen. (not knocking anyone, of course) Maybe cause I just started that way, and have never put a windscreen on my bike. meh. The wind holds you up, and my wrists and hands never get tired or sore from riding.

I'll be riding down 280 at a nice clip and pass a guy doing 60 or something, tucked into their bike and be like :wtf :confused oh, well...that's their thing, I guess. :)

:laughing I like the "word" emoticon.

and kristi, you are fine just the way you are. :teeth ;) edit: not implying that your weak at all. :)

:wow

You never cease to amaze my my MeSSican Brother!!!

One of these days, I'm going with you, bro.. one of these days...

You meet any hot BANDITAS in your travels? :boobies

I honestly would be scared my M900 wouldn't hold up that whole trip. Any maintenance issues that kept you off the road for any amount of time?

Naw bro, they're a really sturdy bike. Maybe it's that year bike, not sure.

Can't think of any problems. I did take a quart of oil with me, cause oil was leaking from somewhere behind the rear cylinder, but that was there before I went on the trip. :teeth

Most v-twins you have to check your bolts and such cause of the vibration. I think I lost 2 bolts, nothing major, bracket bolts and such, and then on the last day, I noticed my front fender was loose, as the 1 bolt holding the right side of the fender had wiggled out. doh! so just took one from the other side and secured it. was pretty quick.

I did ride my Harley to the Panama Canal and back, after all. :teeth

There are a lot of handy people out there, so I never really worry about the bikes condition...I figure...it'll work out, and I'll figure a way of doing it. :)

Great pics and write up. Welcome back.

I didn't mean that I think my bike has problems, just that a long ride like that on my older M900 might bring me cause for some concern. :laughing

I've only got 18000 miles, though. :thumbup

nice Rick. it's got me itching for my trip down to San Luis Potosi in a couple weeks.

i am going to be a lame-o though and fly down there since i only have a week.

getting booted out of the house to go visit the relitives solo. Mi esposa dice que yo neccesito practicar mi espanol. :p

Wow! Great trip and write-up, Machete!! I kind of started reading your thread back on the 23rd and finished up tonight. Got confused looking for where I left off and tried so hard not to read ahead :laughing

Nice helmet btw. Was actually suppose to purchase that one but the dealer I went to ran outta stock and gave me the Spec 1R Toseland instead for the same price. STILL, I regret not getting the Vandal.

:laughing thanks dude. it was a blast. Trying to get maps to show my route. Yeah, I really like that helmet, although it's a bit louder than my old Arai.

Kornholio: I hear ya. I got some bits to work on it now. but it's all part of the game

Freddo: dude, let me know. I will be doing another ride like this. ;)

Hooli: Uh...somewhere near the exhaust? :confused :laughing

yo Rick this is Christian.. it was nice meeting you man I wish I could've stayed longer as Stans party but had a few other plans for the night. I showed my old man the pictures and for sure brought back memories haha, he says el espinazo del diablo looks a lot better than back in the day when him and his buddies rode it... he has a bunch of stories from traveling Mexico back and forth, like I'm sure you have from your travels. Props from me and the old man :thumbup it looks like you had a blast. see you around

Wonder what kind of use could've killed those gloves on a 5k mile SOLO ride. I hope you moisturized regularly. :laughing

Great photos and writeup, nancy. Glad the mechanical stuff was uneventful. That's the only thing that's ever grating on me when I do a long ride.
