To get straight to the point, I want to copy (as closely as practical) the trail cookies from Moonside Bakery Cafe in Half Moon Bay. Who can reverse engineer or deconstruct them for me? I will deliver samples..... :). At $3.75 per unit, I need to play. I can cook, but can't bake for shit, unless pizza dough counts. I would take a photo but would need a colonoscopy to do so, as my last sample was just consumed with a nice glass of Meiomi pinot noir....... I don't have a sweet tooth but these fuckers are good. Help me Obi Wan BARF, you're my only hope.

… guessing this is a trail cookie

Looks like sugar with a few contaminants.
Sweep up the kitchen then get started early for the morning trade.

If I had one I could probably make a fairly reasonable facsimile. There are a few basic cookie dough recipes, and on their menu they call it a "Trail Mix" cookie. Probably almonds, coconut, raisins, or they could be blueberries?...not sure what else. I think you're going to have to go back and purchase one, take it apart, and get another photo before you eat it!

Could be a modified oatmeal cookie, just add trail mix. I'd have to taste one to see if I'm right but it wouldn't be too difficult to at least get close

Here you are. There I was.

It seems to me to be an oatmeal-ish cookie with pepitas and oats, raisins..... I would be happy to buy a bunch on our next trip and distribute them to the Barf. $3.75 each now, it would be a good way to spend down my son's inheritance! :)

I tried making some oatmeal cookies a while back as a base to start from and failed miserably (King Arthur Flour recipe; man, that dough was some tough stuff).... I'm a cooker, not a baker...... Ah well, there are bigger problems in the world to solve.

PM mailing addies or meeting place if you would like one of their cookies.

I’m a baker. Let me wait until the weather cools here and I’ll try my hand at these. :love

send me one. mark is the baker at our house. the trail mix part is easy, but he’ll need to taste the cookie part to figure that out. he’s made all kinds of awesome bakery items just copying what he’s tasted (custom recipes). usually comes out at least as good, sometimes better. if it’s perfect for you the way it is though, he’ll keep it at that.

Awesome, thank you. The next time we are there, USPS will be blessed with your address. Thank you. I am determined to become a baker myself.
