More fun with insurance agency quotes!

Called AIS just for fun and got quoted $10,000 per year for my Gix. :laughing I just started laughing at the woman on the phone. Luckily, she was also a motorcyclist, so she was laughing too.

I pay $125/month with Allstate for full coverage, mostly because I have 4 points. The woman mentioned above DID tell me never to cancel my policy though, since Allstate isn't issueing new policies and my rates WILL drop. I live with it for now. :rolleyes

Progressive is good if you have zero points/accidents. I started with them in 2000. $900 for 3 bikes, fully covered. Claimed an accident later that year.......my rates increased to $7K the following year. Screw that.....went to State Farm for $1000 for 4 bikes.

21st Century also does bikes, but you have to call in to get a quote, you can't do it online.

Ah, bummer. I got my hopes up, but they don't insure anyone who's had a license for less than three years. motorcycle endorsement that is.

I 'scored' 4700/year with Progressive for the XX (34, 1 speeding ticket, 100/300 + full coverage). I wonder why I didn't go with them...

omg....das krzy....why pay insurance if its more than the bike?....lame ass
What does the cost of the bike have anything to do with how ridiculously high some insurance quote is? Auto/bike insurance is first and foremost to cover your liability in an accident; property damage coverage to your bike is secondary, assuming you opt for collision and/or comprehensive coverage. I'm not saying that such high quotes are acceptable, but to say that it doesn't make any sense to measure high insurance rates against the cost of the bike that is being insured isn't entirely correct.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that some people, when provided sky-high quotes say something like, "Man, I could just about buy another bike for what you're quoting me." Understandable but again, the insurance isn't just covering damage to your bike, but the damage your bike might do to other people and/or property.

Try Tom Weber Insurance. He advertises in City Bike. I think that he is an independent agent and can write policies from many different companies. When I was shopping mine around, his quotes were fairly decent. Sorry I don't have his # handy...

For those with military background USAA insures my G1K; 30 clean record for $129.00 every 6 months with 300/500 full coverage and 500 deduct.

I got multi vehicles and 3 bikes on my USAA policy. My Busa is $105 every 6 months. State Farm was charging me $305 a year.

USAA will only insure your bike (a) if you've had your motorcycle license for more than 3 years and (b) if your car is insured with them as well.

well i say its rediculous becuz yes full coverage does pay for other damages ure bike might cost....but u ever seen a bike hit a car?....i have....the bike gets fucked up and the car needs a new bumper.....car insurance is different since a car-car accident can be killer...no pun intended

The quotes I mentioned were all for "full coverage". Liability on a motorcycle is actually fairly cheap for most bikes. The biggest expense after breakdown appears to be Uninsured Motorist and Collision/Comprehensive. In the case of the $12k-13k quoted R1, there was something like a $9k difference between liability only and full coverage.

So yes, saying "I could buy a new bike for that coverage rate" is absolutely correct.

<---21, 0 pts, full coverage on a '02 600cc from State Farm: $450/yr if I get car insurance with them too($1600w/o), which I plan to because Farmers is raping me on premiums

I have progressive, $706 per year on the 929 for liability only....22 0 points M1 1yr going on 2......they wanted like 4 thousand somethng for full :green

I heard bike-line had good rates I am going to call them before I renew with progressive.

man i cant believe hwo much cheaper it is to get car insurance with bike insurance.....its krzy

Oddly Progressive was cheapest for me. I also have my car thru them too. $1500/yr for liability only... when this shit disappears off my record in 3 years I'll be a happy happy girl.

Most companies were asking 1,700-2500 for liability only for 1 yr.

Haahahaha I called bikeline today and they said they don't insure any CBR's over 600cc :loco :hand

Not true---AAA SoCal insures mine---but AAA NorCal does NOT cover bikes--

I work for CSAA (AAA NorCal) and I am working on this. It irritates me that my own damn company won't insure me.

As for prices, the best I have gotten have always been from Bike-Line. They were about $1400+ lass than Progressive on my F2 and about $1600 less on my F3.
