Looking to hear from people who have worn multiple brands/models. Clearly you can't have a valid opinion without wearing more than one type. I don't want to hear "my Bilt is super aerodynamic...and cheap too!". I'm now commuting on a naked bike and looking to avoid increasing my chiropractic visits if at all possible.

Not much difference to me after owning HJC, Shoei, Simpson, Scorpion, and Bell. Your best bet is get a windshield if wind blast is the issue.

I've got a slightly taller one coming, but it's a Z1000, not a Hardly, so it isn't getting much in the name of preserving the awesome styling :cool

It isn't my first naked bike, I know what I have. Just curious if there was some consensus on the helmet with the best aero, since I'm about due for a new one.

the problem with an aero helmet for straight riding, is that when you turn your head , it catches and turning your head back, there's more drag to overcome. So I'm not sure there's a perfect helmet for you chiro-wise.

I have an AGV GP-Tech and a Shoei RF-1100. I give a slight edge in aerodynamics to the rf1100 because it does not rotate the head in side winds. The gp does discernibly relative to the rf1100. Both are excellent.

My Z750s has a fairing but the windshield is no higher than my old '03 Z1000 was with a Laminar Lip on it. My lowly Scorpion exo-400 is the quietest helmet on it having tried the 500,700, and 1000 models of the same brand. The more crap on the helmet (vents, vent covers, switches, etc, etc,) the more noise you have. IMHO the more noise you have the more resistance you have too.

my Suomy Vandal doesn't buffet nearly as much as my Scorpion Exo
Vandal > Exo

My AGV AX-8 Dual Sport helmet without the peak is quieter than any helmet I've owned, including my RF-1000, a Scorpion helmet, and an Icon Airframe. When tucked in I get zero wind, no buffeting whatsoever with the AGV, even with the peak. I can't say the same thing about any other helmet I've ever worn.

I hate to admit it...but my Shoei X-12 is amazingly aerodynamic. I've owned an HJC CL-15, Shoei RF-1000, Scorpion EXO-400 and EXO-700, and a 707 Vendetta.

The X-12 takes the cake easily. It's incredibly stable when just cruising along on the freeway, and turning your head the wind doesn't catch it. The vents are outstanding, and it's lightweight enough so gusts don't throw your head around. The only downside is the noise...and the price. But it's honestly an amazing helmet.

From webBikeWorld: "My Vandal is one of the noisiest helmets I've ever tried. The noise seems to come from everywhere and in several different frequencies: low, mid and high. Most annoying is a high-pitched whistling noise that comes from...somewhere; I can't figure out where.

Try as I might, I have not been able to isolate the source of the whistling noise. It doesn't seem to come from the front/top vent buttons, which would be the most likely source. The roar that I experience when wearing the Vandal is very tiring and stressful; after about 1/2 hour of riding I feel like I'm exhausted."

These people have tested a lot of helmets. Which EXO are you talking about?

Vandal noise>Most other helmets

With that much noise there has to be something wrong with the aerodynamics

I love my Suomy helmets, but they're all loud as fuck. My HJC RPS-10 is the same. Granted, it's a race helmet so it's not designed with noise in mind. It is aerodynamic as hell but it also has perma-open vents, so that won't do you well commuting.

I've always prefferred Arai's for the street. I wear a 707 though on the street, no joke, and it was quiet / comfortable enough to ride all the way to Vegas with no issues. I put one of my Suomy's on again the other day and wanted to rip my ears off.

i ride with ear plugs so noise doesn't really bother me...
also, i don't have any high pitched whistling... no idea what he's talking about...

I have 2 helmets.

During a windy day the Arai RX-Q feels like an unbalanced washing machine in the spin cycle.

My AGV GP-Tech cuts through the wind like a scythe and when I turn my head there is no rudder effect. I actually feel like I'm riding faster with this helmet. And it's also much quieter than the RX-Q...
