You mean the same guy that I offered to buy from and he never responded? Ok, I'm still interested. How much are you selling it for? I can come by today if you're around.

I believe my last quote was:

I'm very tempted to sell mine -- as most of my rides are in the 40-mile range...

But, I know as soon as I sell it, i'll regret it.

Try calling Vespa/Aprilia in Thousand Oaks, CA.

You want it? $500 cash. :)

I tried SMJ and I couldn't find anything local, (bay area, central valley)

Rider's Choice in Santa Clara has 2 used SM610's on the floor. I don't know anything about the place, never been there myself, just got a message on my machine from a friend that told me they had 2.

I didn't go and ride it for that long, I'm going to be riding it all day tomorrow. This bike F'n rips, wheelies on command:shocker

Big difference compared to a sportbike. Only thing I don't like is the kickstart, it took me 10 minutes to get it started and still haven't really figured it out

If it's like my XR6...

Pull in decomp lever and kick through several times (choke on?)
Release decomp and get TDC
Pull in decomp and push kickstarter down about 3"
Let kickstarter come back up to top
Release decomp and give it a good kick-through

On some bikes, you'll need to twist the throttle with the kick-through, but try it without first - some bike flood, some need it, but it's easier to try it before flooding rather than after.

Oh, you will :laughing It's all about technique. That, and you will become adept at parking pointed downhill. I used to ride a Yamaha SRX600 and even after I figured out the whole drill, well, sometimes I just didn't have the energy to go through with it. I lived on a hill so getting where I was going was easy. Getting back always took a little bit of forethought and planning. I don't miss it:)

Didn't the guy you bought it from give you some pointers?

I know you don't give it gas, I'm just new to the decompression lever. Only bike I had kickstart was a kx250. and it didn't have the lever.

he somewhat showed me he was just putting it on tdc and turned it on. Engine must've been warmed up.

Manny, here's how you light the big XR: turn the gas on, and kick it through slowly, about 7 or 8 times. Then feel it through until the kicker gets really stiff, reset the kicker at the top, and give it a strong boot, like you mean it, it'll light right off. Nice choice of bike, looks sweet. :Port
