and gum surgery. that really smarts.:mad

but I think that fence post ...post really takes the cake.(ouch)

Lets see, I have a few things that I can think of...

  • One time when I was about 15 or so, I crashed my 10-speed bike. I was in 10th gear going all out when my friend in front of my slammed on his brakes and we collided. I guesstimate that I was doing at least 30 mph but maybe faster. When it happened, I removed ALL of the skin off of my right palm. That in off itself was painfull enough but the ride home of almost 45 minutes with nothing to protect my hand and the wind blowing on it was almost unbearable.
  • I've always had problems with my toes nails and I had an ingrown toenail removed when I was about 20. The Doctor gave me about 11 small shots of a few CC each on my big toe and then proceeded to remove the toenail with a large set of pliers and then dig into the nail bed and remove it on the left edge. This wouldn't be that bad except that I'm highly resistent to paid medications and the stuff wore off about half-way through the operation. I did the rest without meds.
  • My last medical pain story is my worst IMHO. A couple of years ago, I went to the dentist to have my teeth checked out and, if needed, to have my wisdom teeth pulled. After what happened, I am totally surprised that I'm not mortified at the thought of going to a oral butcher/dentist.

Anywho, I go to the dentist and after some X-rays they proceed to tell me that two of my lower wisdom teeth are badly deformed and need to be extracted. First off, let me tell you about the dentist. She was about 4'10" and 90 pounds, even wearing a water-soaked parka. For reference, I'm 6'3" and at the time about 310 pounds. Do you see the problem? I didn't until about half way through the damn extraction. Part of the problem with the extraction is the fact that the roots of both of my lower wisdom teeth are curved towards my jawbone. This gives the dentist a hard time so she has to work at it for quite awhile to get the teeth out. Did I mention that she's only 4'10" and I'm 6'3"? Did I mention the fact that she was using a fucking HUGE pair of pliers to extract the teeth? Did I mention the fact that she was basically sitting on my damn chest, with these pliers in my mouth, moving them back and forth so much that my chin was touching BOTH of damn shoulders? Did I also mention that she did this for damn near 90 fucking minutes?

So, this is the situation. Dentist is basically trying to pop my fucking head off via wrenching at my teeth with a huge ass pair of pliers. Remember how I said I'm highly resistant to pain medications? They gave me a nerve block before they started, it was gone in about an hour. They then started giving me shots of Novocain. They gave me so many shots of that stuff because it kept wearing off that they had to stop and say that they couldn't give me anymore shots. The bad thing was that I could still feel just about everything that they were doing. If this wasn't bad enough, the god damn dentist breaks off the fucking roots!! She then has to try to extract the roots by drilling them!

So, to sum it up: I was there for about four hours I think. I was given so much novocain that they couldn't give me anymore. They partially extracted two wisdom teeth but broke off the roots but couldn't extract them. I had lost so much blood that I was woozy and they REFUSED to let me drive home. They made my wife come pick me up and then tell her to take me DIRECTLY to the store or someplace to get some juice or other high sugar fluids in me. Apparently, I was starting to go into shock from blood loss.

To top it fucking off, I had to come back the next day for the oral surgeon specialist that they called in to remove what was left of the roots.

    It took him 10 minutes...
