Moto/ATV "Flash Mob" closed the Bay Bridge last night?

yep, it's true. I admit it. :thumbup
True to your form, John....you were way cooler about his verbal attack on you than I woulda been.
I know for a fact you are not an inconsiderate person. In fact, considering who you are and who was hurling the insult at you....It seems we have a case of the hydrant peeing on the dog. :laughing

I split lanes at a suicide delta on the Bay Bridge, just because I can--known to run red lights and go down one-way streets the wrong way, and treat double yellow lines and speed limits as mere suggestions ... afraid that's my idea of being an "ambassador" for our sport. sure my ultimate comeuppance is impending. we'll see ... :dunno :ride

Damn Hooligan...!!!! Does not apply to @SFMCjohn

I am totally OK with some Hooligan shite.
Momma did not raise no whimp and as a teen I set out to prove that. :laughing

The DY is advisory... for sure. I actually tried to get CalTrans to consider a DY with a green strip in the middle to allow bikes to pass more often. Seriously :laughing

I ignore ST Guy's intersection protocols when I feel it is safer for the group to stay together than break apart and try to regroup which can be sketchy at times. I get the point and I know that at times a little law breaking is a safer approach.

I appreciate a solid wheelie, but I do not like the mass thing because of the disruption to "others".

For years when it comes to wheelies I have felt we as motorcycle riders owe it to the motoring public.

He is anything but.. as you know ;)

I have seen them SFMC guys block a road before. Certainly not Bay Bridge level :teeth

10 seconds that SUV will never get back. :laughing

Everyone’s acting like the Bay Bridge dirt‑bike swarm was some apocalyptic event. Please. If you survived a SF Critical Mass ride in the early 2000s, this was nothing.
Geez…. PaulR

Meh...
This thread belongs in the sink.
Those folks weren't "Motorcyclists" and there was nothing "Motorcycle" about what was going on there.
That was frustrated and bored youth searching for a few moments of identity through acts of anarchy.
They could've just as easily been on skateboards...or scooters....or rollerlades.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN THAT WEREN'T HARMED BUT COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ALTERNATE REALITY
WHAT IF IT WERE YOUR CHILD THAT WASN'T HURT

Haven't been to a critical mass, but a couple of critical tits, , ,
Have been on a bunch of toy runs with blocking cages by the road captain.
Best one is Lake Havasu, bikes are staged near the dam, in Parker.
The sheriff holds car traffic @ county line, LaPaz & Mohave, and all the bikes released to an open road,
15 + miles to Havasu, our bike parade, for us, allowed by the selfish sheriff, , ,
When we get to Havasu, we get all the used toys out for sale, homeowner garage sales, the whole way.

I noticed that you gave me what appears to me to be a frowny face. And I can only assume you approve of what those assholes did. (More problems with those god damn emojis.)
Nope, it was a god damn emoji problem. My bad.

I agree 100% with you that what these assholes are doing is stupid and reckless and damaging in many ways. I just didn't like the prison rape joke.

Not sure how this convo got so heated...

(I think) we pretty much all agree that these assholes were assholes. we just disagree about the best solution, and what to do with the bikes they were riding.

Ach well - on to another thread...

Mr @SFMCjohn is a careless and inconsiderate person??
Fucking hilarious! :rofl

I met SFMC John at Stoney Barf last year.
He is definitely not careless or in considerate.
He found me at the Lodoga store and introduced himself and showed me the way to the camp ground.
I never been there before. I met lots of great and fun people.
Didn’t make Stoney Barf last week. Hoping to see pictures and attend the next Stoney Barf when it occurs later this year.
I wouldn’t have found the camp on my own easily and I appreciate his willingness to help me out. 😀

Havasu is a great place and lots of fun.
Riding in big groups provides energy that’s hard to explain.
Arizona is way different than California and for the most part a little more fun! Just don’t get in trouble.

Whether @SFMCjohn is generally careless or inconsiderate, that Stockton Tunnel blocking was kind of a dick move, and yes, selfish and self-centered.

I get it, it's fun to blow off steam and rile up the cagers, but ignoring hyperbole about "getting to see your child in the hospital before they die", it seriously screws up traffic throughout the City which can take a while to clear out, and just generally pisses people off. And for what?

I did a few Critical Mass bicycle rides which blocked traffic, but there was a feeling that we were making people aware of bicycles and cyclist deaths, and honestly, we kept moving (slowly!), so it wasn't too bad an effect. Just blocking a major route downtown to roar loudly through tunnels and maybe pop sick wheelies is really o different than the Bay Bridge thing that started this whole conversation.

yep, blocking the Stockton Tunnel is a total dick move, but we rule--so that's why we done it, fairly regularly. :ride

felt it was important to share our dickishness (which my subculture embraces, cuz we like to front that we also value truth and beauty) here on this particular BARF thread, lest we think BARF does not have a place for unreconstructed hooligans or that somehow BARF is only a place for proponents of robust law-n-order and prison rape--otherwise known as ambassadors of the motorcycle sport, one assumes. :laughing

anyway ... I'd make some witty comment about the hypocrisy of the herculean effort to distinguish Critical Mass, but that would probably be unkind, so I won't. :toothless

This. A million times this.

The critical mass bicycle rides pissed off everyone that wasn't actually on the ride.
