I'm sure this was posted before, I just too lazy to search on BARF.
But after re watching Doha MotoGP, 2 and 3 yesterday... I was wondering do the riders really drink all that redbull/ monster ? Is that how Pedro Acosta found all that energy to win starting all the way from pit lane lol

Or...are they required to carry that can during interviews and they just sip a little bit for marketing purposes? I can't wrap my head drinking that like its water. Oh, and what is that hand wrap thing that El Diablo has on his throttle hand underneath his gloves? is that why he's so good on the brakes :teeth

Most people drink water. It's for sponsorship reasons. However, you can see post race, a few racers open an actual can of RedBull on the parc ferme. That is real stuff.

FQ20 is wearing what are called Palm Savers. Helps prevent callus build up (at least for me it does riding dirt bikes)

BTW, beware of posting spoilers about MotoGP championship results.. It kinda ruins for people who haven't watched the race. I use 2-3 weeks as a silent period. You can always post race related info in the Couch Racers corner thread. If starting another thread, put "Spoiler" in the title. Just a courtesy to other Moto racing fans

The pro riders are bound by contracts to show their sponsors products in interviews and TV coverage. Doesn't matter if they drink the stuff. Could be whiskey in that can. Watch Supercross. They not only have a can in their hand, but they have a brand new set of goggles around their necks with the strap facing out to show the sponsor name.

Mad

This is done all the time. For instance, do you think the team actually uses Pennsoil, for instance? They use the very best full synthetic they can find and it's likely not Pennsoil. They keep what they actually use a secret.

The have cases of water in branded cans.

The most photographed ones I can find are the Monster "tour water" cans.

I have BMX friends who are professional riders and are sponsored by energy drink companies. Some drink the product, many don’t.

Got a freebie redbull once from their handout promotion. Took a swig and spit it out. Poured the rest of the can on the ground. Wouldn’t drink that shit if they paid me.

More freebies for me if people like you don't grab them. :teeth

Like what has been echoed above.
Some drink the stuff some don't.
They are required by contract to have it in their hands during interviews or when sponsors are in the paddock areas to show support.
There are dummy cans with water in them, this i can confirm.
If you watch any of the Nascrap racing you'll see the coca cola drivers sipping coke, and tight lipping the cans or (aluminum) bottles so you cant see what they are actually drinking.

I don't know of anyone who really enjoys the likes of Monster, RockStar or Redline.
Absolutely horrible IMO.
Red Bull at least has different flavors so no objections to them.
Its all a personal preference.

Personally when Whammy is at the track I drink Vitamin Water (focus)
Kiwi Strawberry. 52% sugars though.......... hmmmm makes one wonder?:thumbup

If you haven't watched the last race and open a thread about MotoGP, you have no right to complain about accidentally finding out something about the race. :x

And seven days should be more than enough.

Who is Pedro Acosta anyway? I only watch the premier races. :ride

This thread is about energy drink..not MotoGP racing

Was just a simple etiquette reminder.. Not a complaint. : | It wasn't directed at you so you may want to .... drink some of that energy drink & chill :laughing

Pedro Acosta may be the next FQ20

Whammy if going to drink a red bull right now!:teeth:thumbup

Thanks for the reminder, will def put " spoiler alert " for you late viewers. Anyways... Pedro Acosta was def a showstopper, interesting to see how he progresses and how consistent he is. FQ20 has his moments, you just don't know which one will show up on race day.

Our team had a minor Monster sponsorship and they would deliver pallets of the stuff every so often.

One year my co-owner neglected to remember to buy Holloween candy, so he just handed out cans of Monster Energy Drink to the kids. Literally hundreds of cans.
The neighborhood parents REALLY loved that.

You must mean you don't know of anyone who's a club or AMA racer etc. who enjoys the likes of those, because clearly millions--"AND MILLIONS!"--of people do. Monster got this non-coffee drinking, non-racing human through college! 'Ey Monster, where's my sponsorship?!
