I would have been all over this had MG offered it in their lineup. :ride

A Griso 1200 motor in a V7...

Top notch build - way improved parts over the V7.

Not only the beefcake of the 1200 engine but Ohlins USD fork and rear shocks, Galfer rotors, Agostini pipes, and some motogadget mirrors and LEDs maybe?

Fucking awesome work Mein Herr Krautster.

Well, I was dreaming of Ducati reviving a new line of ultra-premium, retro-styled bikes (say Sport Classic Gen II) similar to the subject Guzzi. Forget the BMW R NineT or the much-rumored Ducati 796 Scrambler...

Imagine an improved 1100Evo motor from the last gen Monster (keeping it aircooled) mated to the familiar trellis frame with top-shelf Ohlins suspension, a METAL TANK(!!!), and offered with a myriad of configurations (cafe, scrambler, tracker, front fairing, clip-ons/risers, flat seat, cafe seat, street tires, knobbies - we want options!!!) and priced competitively with BMW's R NineT...

In the end, the Ducati accountants would shoot it down and fire the dreamer that even brought up the thought.

I was hoping this would be a 12 cylinder custom guzzi based engine. Thanks internet, for failing me again

I figured they took the v8 500 and added 4 cylinders. :dunno

C'mon guys, we're taking the Harley Davidson of Italy, they have a hard enough time getting two cylinders to work consistently.

Okay, now I'm going to have to go buy a Guzzi to prove you wrong. :laughing

In the meantime, feast your eyes on this:

Yeah, that's 8(!) sets of breaker points! :banana No namby-pamby distributors for these guys. :x

Definitely a hot looking bike. I dig the Griso. :dunno

that's why you need more. usually success goes up with # of tries, so if 1/2 fire on a 2 cyl, more than 6 of 12 should fire?

i've almost convinced myself it makes sense

hang on.

they marked them with a sharpie. we all know that cam seal will eventually blow out, erasing the numbers. metal stamps guys. METAL STAMPS!!

AND
8 single throat carbs, with apparently individual throttle arms off a common shaft.... yeah, they're doing that the hard way. pretty though, very pretty

Grissos are hot in stock form. some of the customs have been downright jaw dropping. on the one above, i especially like the custom sidestand in the little black dress. nice touch, but i figure that's an expensive upgrade.

Based on what I've heard, the early cam follower issues have been fixed. :dunno No other issues that I'm aware of. What do I know? I just bought another Ducati. At least I'm smart enough to avoid KTMs. :laughing

Used Grisos can be found fairly cheap. If I buy one, it'll be used.

Back in 09 a buddy and I were set loose with a Stelvio and a Griso for half a day. To be fair, it was January, and the roads were cold and had damp patches, but it surprised the hell out of me that a Guzzi could spin up the rear (Griso) on corner exists. :party The Stelvio would wheelie instead.

I tried unsuccessfully to locate a Griso 8V in my last shopping binge which ended with me buying another Monster. After multiple conversations with the Moto Guzzi area rep, I found one that was for sale in the entire southern California region and the dealer wasn't willing to part with it since technically they were embattled with Moto Guzzi over whether or not they were actually still a dealer. That and they wanted MSRP+ for the bike. They're hard to find new.
