For some reason I've been eyeing a cafe racer. Now that I've sold my GSXR 750, I have room in the stable. What are everyone's thoughts on the V7 Racer?

At $9900, it's pricey for what it's got. I plan to check it out at Proitalia when they get inventory in 3/23.

Engine Type: 90° V-Twin, 4 stroke
Capacity: 744 cc
Maximum Power Output: 48 HP at 6,800 rpm
Max Torque: 40.3 ft. lbs at 3,600 rpm
Dry Weight: 401.2 lbs

coming from a gsxr, you'll find this bike far too slow.but if you're not a ricky racer type, this bike might work for you.I think demo ride should help you decide...........

That they have the nerve to use Motoguzzi and racer together is laughable. If you want a fancy tractor, sweet, performance not anywhere near the gsxr, too heavy, waaay too slow.Just another trophy bike
:rofl at specs

From what I've read about the new V7s, they don't make a whole lot of power but handle well enough once up to speed. But full-on performance isn't what these bikes are about. The V7 is about style and arriving there at 6/10ths pace looking good.

I had a 97 Moto Guzzi Sport 1100i for 33K miles and loved it, once it was sorted that is. I'll definitely own another Guzzi one day.

Power is not something I'm after with this purchase. I have a 1098 dedicated track bike for that.

I do agree, 48 hp is pretty lame for a 744cc motor. Moto guzzi has some learning to do. I also believe the front forks aren't adjustable whatsoever. For street purposes and just cruising around, it does it well. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.

Sweet retro looking Italian bike. Not a high performance macine and not cheep. You'll be the only one riding one anywhere you go unlike a gsxr.

Modest hp power yes but it has some torque, very cool styling, good components and stands out in a crowd of typical bikes.

Fast enough to get you in trouble and lots of inquiries from other bike fans.

They are fun retro bikes. I wish they made a little more power, something a bit closer to the Bonni but I'd rather have a V7 than the Bonnie personally.

The number plates looks a bit "tacked on afterthoughts" and I feel they're a bit tacky on such a underwhelming bike. That said, with some cleaning up and stripping down, I think this would be a great base for a very modern cafe :)

Agreed about the number plates. Why does it have an Arrow can on one side and an OEM can on the other? :wtf What about the tire choice, can you run some sticky rubber?

The Ti Arrow's are +$1000. It was an option/package offered in 2011.

...Moto guzzi has some learning to do.

:rofl Guzzi has done lots of learning, and lots of folks have learned a lot from Guzzi over the years. Check out the bigger bikes - they've made some truly amazing bikes over the last 15 years or so. Tons of cool stuff for decades before that as well.

This isn't a performance bike. Yeah, the specs are kinda weak, and the name is downright stupid given the performance. It's still a cool bike, although the levels of people getting into "cafe bikes" the last few years is a little wack. Want a real cafe bike? Build one.

the current sport rider or motorcyclist on the newstands has an article about these. makes 30ish HP on a dyno. and they spend over a grand just to get it back up to its quoted power.

they look real cool though. I prefer the standard one for looks.

Agreed. There are some cool bits on this thing, but overall it's a busy and overdone.

I don't think Cafe bikes are really about speed.

Go for it.:thumbup

ehhh....that is a pathetically low amount of power...Lets be honest...you could get a monster with the same look and far better performance...

I don't have $10K for a new toy but if I did, and as the owner of a 33hp 500# moto, that V7 looks like a sexy beast to me.

it comes stock with Sport Demons, bias ply but not too bad.

I've put about 1500 miles on the regular V7 Classic(taking care of one for a friend), and I could not recommend it at all. It gave me no problems mechanically. That is the positive thing I can say about it. I'm not at all a HP guy, but the power output on this bike is the pits. It just plain sucks. It has adjustable nothing. It has no character- this is not the Guzzi of old. The tank is plastic, and yes, it swells and leaks and will require replacement. From the factory. I've tested the V7 Racer as well(I worked for Pro Italia for 2 years). It looks nice if you don't mind all the candy red that they went too far with. The ergos and especially the seat are terrible. It has a warranty, which for some brings peace of mind, but it's still a Guzzi. Parts have been hit or miss to get a hold of. For $10,000 you could buy a whole lot of perfectly reliable older cafe'd out bikes with money to spare, and quite honestly better usable power, and similar technology(minus fuel injection).
