Hi,
I have a friend visiting from out of town and would prefer if we each had our own bike to ride instead of riding 2-up. I've done some research online but am wondering if anyone has had a good experience (or bad!) with any rental companies.

Also, although he owns a Magna and VFR, he perfers the VFR, so i am hoping to find a standard or sport bike for his trip. Any advice would be helpful since I am new to the area myself.

Thanx!

Someone on this forum (I can't remember who) is associated with them. A quick search of this forum will net you the results that I'm too lazy to find.

I was looking for the same info, seeing if there was anywhere besides Dubbeiju or Eagle Rider. Was hoping for something in the East Bay.

I've rented from dubbelju a couple times and can't say enough great things about them. Super friendly, motorcycle minded people. We use them when my buddy comes in from the east coast. I'm big on service and personally don't even shop anywhere else. just my .02

Ace in Concord used to rent bikes, but I think they stopped a while ago. You might give them a call and see if they can give you any leads on an East Bay rental source.

I had a friend visit a couple of weekends ago and he rented a Triumph Scrambler from dubbelju in SF, we had a great experience with them.

It does seem like the motorcycle rentals cater much more to cruisers, let us know how your rental experience ends up going and what type of bike you get! Happy riding!

Thumperx

I have rented from them. All was easy and cool. Eagle has some additional bike options. Check em both.

For those that have dealt with either of these places, do they do a "$5000 credit card deposit" or anything like that? Do they offer insurance?

California Motorcycle Adventures, Mountain View.

I've rented from them. They have ST1300s and BMW RTs.

damn, just went to their website - nothing but big bikes. and I could walk to their shop. I really wanted to rent something like a versys to try something light and upright.

Does Addiction Motors rent bikes? Nothing on their website but when I was in there the other day it seemed like another customer was talking about renting a bike. (disclaimer: I wasn't really paying attention since I was talking to the tech about my bike and didn't ask about renting :dunno)

Dubbelju did last time I rented from them. That was over a year ago. Not sure if its still the same.

Addiction doesn't rent. But they are used as a pickup/storage location for a rental company. I forget the name, but when I checked into it, they were priced significantly higher than other rentals in the area. It's a shame, too, because I live a few blocks from there and really like Galen and staff.

Edit: Racy Rentals is who runs out of addiction.

I used both Dubbelju (BMW F800GS) and Eagle Rider (BMW R1200RT).
Good experience with both places.

Looks like Dubbelju does a $2500 damage deposit. Full details at their website.

I called racy rentals for when my dad comes to town. Unfortunately, they have a 4 day minimum the weekend of the 19th because of Moto GP. I completely forgot it was that weekend and now I'm hoping Dubbelju doesnt have the same thing. That would really mess up our plans.

I've reserved a bike with Dubbelju for the end of July - easy enough so far! I will re-post an update after, hopefully with some good pics! Thanx for the advice.
