280 south, about 1.5 miles before meridian exit at around 9:30 am...#3 lane...going about 77 mph...see an suv go over a stick :wtf...i see the stick flung back at me and flipping up in the air towards me :shocker....one of those solid steel short sharp teeth garden rakes...hits the front tire perfectly with the teeth...i just hear a loud psssssssssssssssssssssh :party...front tire instantly flat...never had a flat before...kept it straight and steady...don't feel too bad...moment i try to move over to the right lane to exit...i realize it only wants to go straight :laughing...didn't want to stop in the middle and slow down..just kept speed at 65 mph and inches right towards meridian...having to keep the moto straight and using the handlebar to turn...can't really lean with a flat tire...lesson learned...rode on a flat front tire from willow glen to santa clara cycle to get a new tire...:thumbup

garden rake wins...garden rake 1...moto 0

Hoe-ly crap! Good save dude. Panic inputs could have been deadly. Hope I could react the same in the same situation.

I thought this thread was going to be about choosing which thing to buy and the choices were a moto or a rake....

^ Start with a smaller garden rake if you're a n00b. Even though all your friends will say you're a pussy if you start with anything smaller than:

Wow! I wouldn't say the garden rake won- you didn't hit the ground, so its nefarious plot was foiled!! Good job, you!!! :applause

Wow. That looks like something Speed and Pops would have put on the Mach 5...

What a nightmare scenario. Still better than hitting a hoe though. :p

the rake looked exactly like that one too...and, i was picturing the same thing in my head the moment i saw what the "stick" flying towards me was...happened in matter of about 2 seconds...oh well...glad it wasn't the rear tire...i just replaced that little over a week ago....darn..i was going to get few more thousand miles on the front...oh well...

Good save!

Could have been a Sideshow Bob moment.

rims are fine...kept the moto perfectly straight and just steered with the handlebars like i would do on my bicycle with a flat...just kept away from bumps and dips...kept the weight back....i just crawled it all the way to santa clara cycle on local roads at speed limit...i'm sure i looked really silly making the slowest left and right turns keeping the moto straight at all times...going straight was fine..the flat tire kept straight and center....

took it in to santa clara..picked a new tire in stock (not exactly what i wanted, but didn't want to wait to order a tire and be moto-less)....they checked and replaced the tire the same day...always glad to know santa clara cycles is open 7 days a week...:thumbup

did you warp your rim riding on it flat?
