biaggi talking so much smack about rossi. oh you silly italians and your words.

OUCH, Biaggi, come on...you sound waaay too butthurt. Quoting the ducati years is a dumb argument, especially for a world-champion rider. hurr durr, should they have given the yamaha to Alvaro Bautista because he made better lap times last year than Rossi?

....sorry Bautista, no offense, you're really fast and a nice guy. But Biaggi is a business man, and the fact that he is ignoring that Rossi is a literal plug-n-play on the M1 for 2013 is just making him sound like an angry kid.

Rossi, on the other hand, when asked about an actual current threat to winning, is graceful, thankful, and full of respect:

Motogp.com Feb. 19 2013:
"His 18th season is meant to be his 'rebirth', as he lines up one again with his beloved Yamaha M1 after a challenging time with the Ducati Desmosedici. 2013 has already awoken some emotions in fans, as Rossi showed that he was quick from the off in the first test in Sepang.

In an exclusive interview with Motosprint, the Italian talked in-depth about his frustration these last two years, the joys of returning to a team to 'have fun', friends, enemies, certainties and hopes. Speaking on leaving the Italian outfit he said: 'My past speaks for me, as with the Aprilia, Honda and Yamaha I have always been lucky enough to be on the right bike. I know how to win, but maybe in Ducati it was only me who knew how to.'

Now it's time to go big - not to prove it to just anyone - but to himself. 'I'm riding for fun, like I’ve always done, but it is obvious that I’m back at Yamaha with the idea of beating the Hondas as I did years ago. I found the bike much easier to ride than in 2009, the grip and electronics are incredible: the M1 is definitely a bike to put at full lean!'

His return to the Iwata factory implies a challenge to the current MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, however, for him Rossi has only good words: 'Lorenzo, through those tough years has been very polite with me. He, like Pedrosa, has shown me respect, not raging about me. Something that Stoner, and in part Dovizioso, didn’t do. With me, Lorenzo has always been very fair.'

Rossi then moves on to discuss the opposition: 'Last year Pedrosa had an incredible second half of the season and maybe this could be his year. He's ready. On the other hand, he has a strange destiny, because every time he is on the verge of winning the title, something always happens (see Misano 2012). Talking of Dani, I must admit that Márquez is the only rider in which I see really see myself, and that's why even if he is my opponent, I see a lot of me in him.'

His minimum target is to win a race, but one knows Rossi won’t be satisfied: 'The fire inside was never out. Now I feel competitive, but to beat Lorenzo and Pedrosa there is still much to do, especially on race-pace. Many think I should stop, but I know the truth!'"

once i got a real taste for GP, ive pretty much always held the opinion that a Rossi that is having fun is very dangerous for his competitors [results]. he may not be a favorite for the 'ship, but this is motorsports and we've seen crazier things happen.

Biaggi once again is so fucking right. Its a sign of high intellegence when you can make fine distinctions and subtle observations like that. The Copperfield/Rossi comparison is uncanny. They are like the same fucking dude. Its scary.

HAH had to do it

of course, that's curly Doug Hemming, rather than David Copperfield

Great comparison from Biaggi, the Roman Emperor delivers. Rossi hopped on the same bike that Stoner won 23 races with, and Rossi made it instantly disappear from winner's circle. IT'S MAGIC. :laughing

And what did your post add? At least I gave a pretty logical responce vs your "my shit dont stink".

There was no logic in your post. Your argument was that Pedrosa hadn't done it before so he couldn't possibly do it ever.

"I've never run a marathon. Obviously, this means I could never run one."

Face it, you don't have the tools for this job.

Look guys, LINES!

Thought this was a different and fun way to look at the lap analysis from the final testing day at Sepang between the Top 5. For the sake of a closer look at the relevant lap times, I did remove the recorded times for when the riders pulled into the pits and stayed in the pits, as well as other anomalies like in-laps or maybe having ran off.

It's also another way to look at Lorenzo's metronomical pace, which has often been talked about, but now you can see it.

Interesting to see that Pedrosa (and a couple other guys) may have dipped well below Lorenzo's pace in a couple of instances, but for the most part, everybody's average would fall just above Lorenzo's.

Cool chart. Marquez is FAST, but probably can't do it for an entire race; yet. Pedrosa is FAST with more consistency than Marquez. Lorenzo is a machine.

Another interesting chart would be to create a bar chart of the total time variance. Lorenzo's bar would be miniscule relative to the others.

There will be races where Jorge "checks out" due to his consistency and the lead will grow lap after mechanical lap. If the break out group includes Marquez and Pedrosa with Lorenzo, my money is already on Marquez. He looks like he has some serious BANZAI!!!! laps in his arsenal.

I plan on doing more of these charts for FP's and QP, maybe make it that much more interesting for you guys who like to predict the race finishing order. Maybe for WSBK threads too. :thumbup

^that would be fantastic, sin. I love seeing that.

...maybe you could use some rider-related colors?

lorenzo = blue
rossi = yellow
crutchlow = green
pedro = orange
marquez = ? pink? (baby)

Maybe, but a yellow line on a white backdrop is gonna be a bitch to discern.

yes, yes, please create the mountain charts for us -

thx a ton for making the offer

Dennis, u doing all these charts by hand or do u have some sort of pdf parser that is making this easier (or does excel open pdfs now)?? i could prob write a program to accept Dorna's pdfs and spit out a chart if u want some help.

i'm mostly kidding :p I got nothing but thanks here. Like the others said, if you're doing it by hand it's a ton of work. Yeah if we could set up a program to read dorna's figures and spit em into excel, that'd be asking a lot less of you. Thanks again.

And yeah, whenever I see yellow lines or text on a white background i feel like my eyes are about to bleed
