AFM199 thats why I want a secured frontal pack with full protection for him, either leather or hard shell.

I understand and approve. Just remember that unless he is thoroughly strapped ( not with a single point but three keeping him from bouncing around) he's still subject to impact injury and broken bones. And this assumes the carrier doesn't just disintegrate on impact. Which means probably 80 pounds of steel to make a real crash cage. I really appreciate that you have your dog's safety at heart.

there's a guy on the FJRforums who built one of the hard side cases into a "dog pod" with a windshield. The pup could curl up inside out of the wind or sit up and peek out as desired. can't find the photo ATM

I actually wanted to do the same thing and bought a dog travel bag with tank mounting straps made for a motorcycle. I too have a chiwawa and used to take it everywhere, but the dog would not go into the carrier and when it was it would freak just putting him on the tank so I have a travel bag with mounting kit for motorcycles that I would sell if your interested. You could come by and try it out if you would like too.

I'd also consider getting the pup something to keep warm. As you know, it gets cold when riding even on warm days. A little Chihuahua is going to be even more susceptible to that.

The length I have gone so far, was to put back a silencer in my Leo Vince pipe so the noise would not scare him. Really dont want a tank bag - petrol would be hard to put in, not adequate protection Vs him being directly on me. If its inclosed I could find ways to insulate him and keep him worm - and we are not talking long rides just to the park and ocasional trip to the beach/hiking in Santa Cruz Mtns for now.

That's a nice cage, but I doubt it's actually going to provide much protection in a real crash.

Meh, who cares. I'm a cat person. Cats are very flexible, made of rubber and they can easily withstand a 45mph get-off with little or no consequence because they can fly.

Back in Moscow, my buddy had a kitten who came out from a 14th story apartment....yeah he was a little banged up but ALIVE !!!

My point EXACTLY.

Try throwing your dog out a 14 story window and see how that works out. :x

I almost got suspended for posting a pic of a cat that somehow failed to maneuver its way out of a large truck. Cats aren't all that, and they've got but one life. Don't endanger a pet's just because you want to ride to a park. Take the car/truck/bus.

I love my dog way to much to ever consider putting her in harms way. I feel it's my job to protect her, she has been through enough. (rescue)
We have an understanding. I don't chase my own tail and eat cat shit and she doesn't ride motorcycles. So far, so good.

First one looks good, I dont want my dog hanging out of it and I could definetly reinforce it.
