Hey all! As you may know already, we're getting some rain this week and Tahoe is finally getting some snow.

I did a one-day trip to Kirkwood yesterday. Things were pretty icy unfortunately. I had a couple spills and banged up my hips/butt/knees.

I own a pair of the Dainese Air Drake Textile Pants which happens to have armor/padding in all of these areas. While of course it's not waterproof, I'm pretty sure they would fit decently underneath my snow bib. Has anybody here tried to wear their motorcycling gear for skiing/snowboarding?

I also have a Dainese Avro Textile Jacket which I'm thinking could also fit underneath one of my waterproof shells.

Thanks in advance! Snowboarding + motorcycling, two great hobbies haha.

I've worn my Olympia Phantom 1-piece snowboarding before. It works great. Armored, warm, waterproof, and high-viz so any of my friends trying to find me have an easy time of it.

Haha yeah, I'm sure motorcycling gear keeps you pretty visible.

I'm going to assume your 1-piece is ergonomically shaped for a motorcycle position (leaning forward, knees/elbows bent). Did this hamper your ability to snowboard at all?

Mine is actually sized really large for me. Olympia doesn't make "tall" sizes, so in order to get a suit that fit me height-wise, I had to get an XL that fits me pretty loosely. Even so, though, it's a touring suit, not a track suit, and so isn't pre-cut into an aggressive riding position... I had no problems with my range of motion due to the suit.

On a slope just before New Year, my son outgrew his ski pants and had to wear mine. In the car was my First Gear gore-tex textile riding pants and I wore it. The knee and hip armor in the First Gear pants are not hard in cold temperature. I love the armor, the full length zippers and the pockets. I do not see any reason not to use them as my snow pants hereon.

Has anybody here tried to wear their motorcycling gear for skiing/snowboarding?
Absolutely, back in my college days when I was dirt poor I would always go skiing in my MX gear: gloves, pants, jacket, full body armor underneath, and it worked great since I could take spills without fear of injury. Not very fashionable, but who cares?

I'd say, go for it and have fun!
