Weird...this isn't NESR. Hopefully a similar bunch of in-your-face jerks are on here.

I quit my job in Boston last October, got in my Van with a bunch of bicycles, drove west, and never drove back. Ended up meeting with a prior client of mine while I was in SF and going to work for them. I parked my van for a bit then went through the mess of renting my house in Boston, moving my stuff etc., but I settled in this January to my new home.

I tested my commute from Inner Richmond to Mission bay via public transport and immediately realized that wasn't going to work. Having not had a street bike in 10 years and not having any real interest in riding one, I was going to get a scooter. Then I learned the scooter laws in CA were the not the same as MA (under 50cc means no registration, no insurance, etc.). Started scratching my head about a small street bike. With the thought in mind that it would eventually be a track bike, I emailed all the dealerships within 50 miles for their best price on an RC390 and bought one. K&B motorsports in Petaluma knocked it out of the park, no contest. Other than commuting, I barely ride it. Its fun to rip around the city on, but its only ever left twice - once to Berkeley and once to Sausalito.

Prior to all of that: I raced LRRS for a season and a half in 2012/13. While training for LRRS I got hooked to road bicycles and started racing those. Bicycle racing, moto bike problems (I raced a CRF450), and money constraints, got me out of racing motorcycles and fully committed to bicycles. After a couple years off of a moto, I really missed all my track friends (and the riding I suppose), so I bought a first gen Daytona 675 on an impulse and started getting into track days again with all my friends at TTD. A couple years later I was instructing for Tony and super happy. I dropped a valve at NYST and destroyed the top end. With plans to swap the motor over the winter, I instead moved out here and basically gave the bike away.

I took bicycles as far as I could and this is my first year not racing them. Struggling to adjust, but getting there. I still ride. A lot.

I'd like to take my little bike with street rubber and non adjustable suspension on the track and wring it out in hopes of meeting some like minded people. This seemed like the place to go to figure out the best way to do that, so here I am.

I still am a regular poster on New England's version of BARF. I don't own a Jetta; I own a van. I couldn't imagine changing my 12 year old username.

Good to have you hear. Pretty cool background info. :thumbup

Whatever you are on....:ride with a :teeth

Welcome. I just recently started riding bicycles. I have a hardtail right now but realize I need a road bike. I have been having a ton of fun on them.

Pics of van and motorcycles for sure. Maybe some of your drive west also?

Cool story bro.
I have ridden bikes with and without motors all my life. I had a Mt Fuji. I still have a Ciooc Mokba 80. I ride a Marin Mt Vision. But road bikes are way to dangerous for me. 120+ at T Hill, Laguna, Sears, Buttonwillow etc is way more comfortable.

Good stuff here. If you can join us on a rally you can understand immediately. Or the Stonyford trip in April.

Welcome to the BARF. The Kitchen Sink is where the weirdos hang out.
